Conference play starts today with James Madison coming to town for a weekend series. Elon has lost 5 in a row... a series sweep sure would be nice.

I can't believe we had this much trouble with a team like JMU. It's gonna be another long season for another Elon team. Bring out the brown paper bags.

17-3 Elon wins. That's what I expect against a team like JMU.

Doesn't matter, all our sports our horrible right now. Baseball is incredibly disappointing. Giving up 25 is plain bad. Losing, what 8 if 9 is horrendous. Hate to say I'm a fair weather fan now, but I've list all passion for stomaching any game in any sport now.... I just don't really care anymore

Good to see them get the series sweep. The team hits the ball really well. Pitching still seems to be the problem area. The starting pitching was solid this weekend and there are a couple of relievers pitching well right now, but after that it's a bit of a train wreck. I can't recall an Elon bullpen with so little depth in a long time.
Anyhow, they did everything you could ask this weekend. Hopefully they can carry some momentum into the State game and against W&M next weekend.

Pitching has definitely been a problem this year. However, the offense is fun to watch and is one of the best in the conference (still early). Keep in mind that 7 out of the 10 recruits that join the team next year are pitchers.

Nice job getting the series win yesterday against NE...big series against CofC coming up this weekend. CofC is 9-0 in conference, if we can get out of there with 2 wins that would be HUGE. My guess is they take 2 out of 3 though...

nice win last night after getting beat 14-0 by NC State a few weeks ago. Sounds like State helped us out with some errors, but i'll take a win over an ACC school any way we can get it.

Good series win this weekend. They managed to take 2 of 3 even without the top 2 starting pitchers. Anyone know what's up with Elefante and Harris? I caught a comment on the broadcast today that implied they might be back shortly. Really need those guys back.

sweep this weekend against the worst team in the conference would go a long way in locking up the 3 seed in the conference tourney...

I can't figure out this team. Takes the series against UNCW, beat Wake, beat State, beat CoC.....lose to Hofstra.
Despite the record, the RPI still isn't that bad. Currently sitting at 111.
....still have a couple heavyweights left to play outside the conference schedule. The bad thing is, we were spoiled for so long with the program. For a few years at this time, the team was nearly a lock for an at large bid to the regionals. That really hasn't been the case since 2011, though they have been to the post season 1 since. That still doesn't deter me from following the program.... I LOVE BASEBALL!

Been a tough team to figure out for sure - a handful of good wins and a bunch of confusing losses. The only real chance at postseason will be winning the CAA tournament. Looks like only the top 6 teams make it and it is kind of a funky looking bracket with 6 teams and double elimination. Elon is trailing Northeastern for the 3 seed, who still has to play series at W&M and home against CofC (neither of which is an easy weekend) while Elon has just one series left at home against Delaware. I think it is certainly possible to jump up to 3, but probably need to close out 3-1 - a win tomorrow and win the series against Delaware. Here is the link to the CAA Baseball Championship: caasports.com/tournaments/?id=40

Hofstra is not as bad as their record implies, but this was still a bad series loss. Nearly blew a big lead today.
I believe with just one win next week against Delaware, Elon guarantees at least the 4th seed. Northeastern closes @ W&M and then at home against CofC. W&M is in quite a tailspin right now, but still could be tough for the Huskies in Williamsburg. Then CofC; not much needs to be said.
Hoping to see a better series next weekend for the Phoenix.
Go Phoenix!
