Last thing....I hope the GWU QB is okay. Hope a concussion is out of the question and you're back playing injury free next weekend. Agreed. As for all the moaning here, Elon did win the game. Or did I miss something. Yes, there's a lot of improvement needed on offense. But if you can't see the building blocks there, you're blind. Had this game been officiated correctly/evenly/fairly, it never would have gone into OT. But since it did, it was great to see a team with guts and determination tonight. Let's enjoy this a little before throwing everyone under an unnecessary bus.

We just need a new offensive coordinator. We had a fourth string, non-scholarship, walk-on in the game at running back in the over times. The offensive line is not the problem, but the answer is not 2 Freshman OL . Where is Pearsall #15 and Oliver #14 and Dawson # 26 ? Until we get a different OC, we will continue to struggle. Jacob Ingle, #77 OL was in Burlington. No redshirt, played as a freshman, played every other series as a sophomore, started as a junior, and now they do not travel him....now on scout team. Guess they do not need his experience or leadership.

A win is a win, so definitely not going to complain too much. About the worst circumstances of blowing a lead in regulation and they fought through it to hang on in OT. The defense was great. I do think they were helped a little by the fact that Maxwell didn't appear to be a great passing QB, but they kept them contained most of the night.
The offense obviously still has a lot of work to do as others have mentioned, but I think a lot of of it has to do with play-calling. Open it up! I do like the read option they've been using that gives CC the ability to run more. The only concern I have with CC running is he almost always goes head first for a few more yards on these runs. I love the extra yards, but don't want his head taken off. The tight ends were used effectively in OT and should have been used more during regulation. Joyner has played really well for a freshmen and Lennon appears to be having the proverbial sophomore slump. Need the receivers to get it together.
Should be good home crowds for the next two. Let's hope they can ride the momentum with two more winnable games. If you recall last year, the Charlotte win was followed by #4 UNH and #3 Coastal, which killed all the momentum from the Charlotte game. A lot better chance to string some wins together before the October gauntlet.
Go Phoenix!

Just a note.
Skrosky is our OC regardless of title. Skrosky calls the plays as well. This is his offense.

It seems CC takes responsibility for the sluggish offense.
“We got it going when we needed to, but I had a bad, bad first half,” said Christiansen, who threw for 116 yards and ran for another 52. “Everything was just so quick. I missed so many reads.”

I was able to watch a good portion on the game. A couple things: 1a. Great to see a win! 1b. CC - this guy is a baller. Poise under pressure and looked great late in the game 3. Defense hung tough most of the game. Last drive in regulation was a killer, but I know they were tired!!! 4. WRs....come on!!! Hate to be hard, but get it together 5. Play calling.....OC, the season is on you. You have a good QB, you need to open it up. 6. GWU has some guys on D that are and will be all-Americans. But serioualy though. OC, get your act together. I just saw the second half but reviewing the play-by-play it is clear that the offense was dead ineffective both rushing and passing. until the last 2 plays in OT 3. 97 defense snaps We need to develop drives that eat clock and gain yds

Anybody know what is going on with running backs? Bennett and Coppedge should be performing at a much higher level at this stage in their careers. Stats from GW below.
No Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg Tracey Coppedge 2 0 3 -3 0 0 -1.5 Connor Christiansen 14 65 13 52 0 17 3.7 Malcolm Summers 4 10 1 9 0 8 2.3 Brandon Gentry 4 11 0 11 0 6 2.8 B.J. Bennett 17 34 2 32 0 6 1.9

Part of the problem is run blocking. With pass blocking the lineman just need to keep the D off the QB. With run blocking, the OL need to push the opposing DL around a little bit to make a hole. There always seem to be an OL/DL convention right where the RB is looking to get through.
I think Ninja is right about Coppedge stopping. Unless there's a hole or he runs sweeps, don't look for him to make any impact. I think BJ could make more positive yardage if he'd just keep pumping his legs after the initial impact. I think Malcom may be a standout if the run blocking improves. He looks to have pretty good balance and decent acceleration. I don't know that much about Gentry. Connor really did well running against GW. The read option could really open up our offense. I think passing out of the backfield as an outlet may be worthwhile as well.

I'll get lambasted for saying this. We should be hiring established head coaches, not assistants.

If all the complaints on offense at true and Skrosky is OC, does that not bother you guys?

It comes down to execution and having confidence for sure, on both the players making plays eliminating mistakes like penalties and developing consistency with a youth movement. Dumbing down or simplifying an offense just to see what works is not a good good move I think these guys better give a greater effort. Joyner has stepped up as a playmaker We need some more catches fewer drops.
