CAA home opener. We know the team will again go into this game as the underdog. They look fairly strong, having lost to ECU 28-20. I mentioned last week that Cohen was one of the best backs we'll see all season.....Towson may have the best. Darius Victor is churning 145.7 yards/game and averaging 6.3 ypc. Beast is a name that comes to mind.
What should be expect this weekend?
CC has been pretty hard on himself after the past 2 games. He sounds like a born leader when you read his quotes. Will he be able to motivate the offense? Will the Defense be able to shut down Victor?

I don't look for a win here. I think Towson is a better team now than last year. We have a better D than last year, but our offense is still too inexperienced to win this game. I really hope I'm wrong, but I've seen nothing to change my mind at this point.
Connor is a good kid but needs a mentor to help him along. I'm still not sure what to make of the receiver corps. I'm really liking Tereak McCray. He seems to be stepping up. Joyner is also doing well, but we need to have a real, true play maker, which we lack right now. People have been giving Connor grief about overthrowing Lennon on one go route last week. From what I saw, Lennon needs to share in that fail. He was jogging the route. In a go route you have to be in a flat out sprint until you catch the ball or until it hits the ground.

BTW, don't judge Towson on the ECU game. ECU lost a lot to graduation last season and what is left is pretty well banged up. They're not the team that beat up on UNC last year. I do give us a chance, (like the guy in Dumb & Dumber), but not with the offense we've had the past three weeks.

I've got a good feeling about Saturday. I think we get our first CAA win.

The team handily won the field positon game the last two games in the first half.
Need something to show it for it this week. This & whoanellie's view positons us to win.

We have to clean this up but it has to come as second nature.

I re-watched the A&T game (yes, apparently I enjoy pain). Here's what I noticed. Very few of the stalled drives were the result of the offensive scheme not working. Fumbles, drops and penalties were the primary culprits. These should be very fixable, especially the penalties. I lost count of the holding penalties -- and those were killers. It sure didn't help that outside of CC there was virtually no running game, but that, too, should be fixable. Especially considering we just played two very good defenses.

Sommers broke off a great run but coughed it up the next play then was banned to the bench Gentry CC mix up really cost us and deep passes were way off. I sure hope We have an ability to flush the past and look toward to playing better, there is a lot of potential and room to grow as a team Offense pulls or and cheers for the defense and vice versa, was an old Red Wilson ploy.

If we want a chance for the first CAA win we will have to connect on the mid to long range passes. Overthrows and drops just will not give us that chance to open up our running game.

Connecting on the long passes would be aided if the 6'4" #80 would keep running on the streaks and fight for the ball.
But yes, Simpson (why do I feel like I'm talking to myself), I agree with your assessment.

Weather forecast not looking great for Saturday. Rain and windy. Will probably force more of a run game.
Bringing some first timers to Elon football and hoping for a good crowd and a win.
Go Phoenix!

Even with the weather, if we hold another team to less than 14 in regulation, I think we can pull out a win. For some reason, I have a good feeling about this weekend. Maybe it's the new Elon hat that arrived in the mail yesterday

Not that it should be surprising, but looks like we're going into this game as the big underdog. Not a single person on AGS has picked us to win, though there are a couple who think it will be a close game.

I think it is a proven fact the We Elonphans will never get any respect from our fellow CAAers . It was like this in the SoCon until We proved or earned their respect. just say'n btw Elon has reserved me a sideline pass for manana, pretty cool.
