I have been reading a lot of the posts lately and have obviously noticed the major shift towards a negative outlook on this season, the coaching staff, the depth chart, and the future outlook. While I truly do understand that it can be very frustrating watching this team at times, I think a step back and some perspective would help.
One person mentioned the turnaround at Michigan with Harbaugh as evidence of coaching ability being able to make a quick turnaround with current players. Please remember that while Michigan struggled last year, their roster is still filled with HS All-Americans and 4/5 Star recruits. Even when they are crappy on the field, they still get solid recruits due to facilities, history, and the general aura of the program.
I think we can look at a couple of other school that make a bit of better comparisons....
Utah - Dominated the Mountain West until they upgraded to the PAC-12 in 2011. 2010: 7-1 in conferece, 10-3 overall (Last season in MWC) 2011: 4-5 in conference 2012: 3-6 2013: 2-7 2014: 5-4, 9-4 overall 2015: 3-0, 6-0 overall
TCU - Another dominant Mountain West team, they moved to the Big12 in 2012. 2011: 7-0 in conference, 11-2 overall (Last season in MWC) 2012: 4-5 in conference 2013: 2-7 2014: 8-1,12-1 overall 2015: 4-0, 7-0 overall
They moved to bigger football conferences and struggled. It would have made perfect sense to fire the coach after early struggles, but they did not, stayed the course and it has paid off BIGTIME. And I think we can all agree that both of these programs were in a better position when they moved conferences than Elon was.
Elon - 2011: 3-5 in conference, 5-6 overall 2012: 1-7, 3-8 2013: 1-7, 2-10 (Last season in SoCon) 2014: 0-8, 1-11 2015: 1-3, 2-5
It certainly is easy to notice and point out the problem. We are not winning, and it ain't been pretty. But how do we fix it is the difficult question. Sometimes progress takes time, especially when you combine the perfect storm of taking a poor team into a tougher conference with a new head coach. Maybe Skrosky is the guy, maybe he's not. But I don't think you can make that judgement in year 2. Not even Urban Meyer could have turned this around in a year.

What??? You're asking people who hide behind anonymous avatars, many of whom don't seem to care enough to fully register on this forum, to be reasonable?
You're asking for the moon.

I belive the frustration stems from the team not being prepared to play. Nothing more or less.
Too many times we come out flat and ill prepared. Losses are one thing, uninspired play is another.

Interesting, I am guessing homer is not your real name just your anonymous 'hidden' name. It's kind of ironic that you comment like that on a post from ElonNewbie who is not fully registered.

What a pain in the backside.
If you would pay attention to the JMU thread, you'd see that a ton of the people griping are very new to the forum. They weren't around even a month ago. They are here to piss and moan. Nothing more.

Homer is a moron. On every thread. An absolute moron. Guy thinks he's Tom Landry. Probably has never played a down of football in a significant sense in his life.

Okay Boy's & Girls: remember to stay on topic. and guests grow some and register your opinions will have more clout. Reality? We have already doubled our win count from last year. Our offense is offensive. we really suck. our head coach has a working knowledge of this side of the football. 3 straight weeks of ranked teams has worn out the defense. JMU leads the world in offense exposed everything. They are on College Game Day tomorrow. We helped with this!!! For a true Phanatic whether you laced them up or not YOU HAVE TO BE PISSED OFF> Learning to win and becoming a winner is a process. It comes from the bottom up. these 18,19 & 20 year old's individually measure up as fine young men but they are surely lacking in play making abilities. Is it speed? quickness? unable to block? or ability to get the ball who can? or is it play calling? or playing the right guys? I know most of the freshmen are not ready to play but the upper class-men let this happen. I believe We need a better effort from everyone. I hope We get it from refocusing this week and it shows next week vs Stoneybrook. We shall see.

It's not the student athletes, the problem is with the Administration. Elon is not committed to the football program. Great facilities no doubt, but a win / loss record of 17-40 (10-30 conference) is bigger than who is playing QB. Elon is not committed to football and recruits know this. It's not too hard to beat Elon on the field and with the recruits. With that said, it's a beautiful place with a great education.

Okay Guest, You cannot get away this off the wall buul-crap, no it's horse nuts from a a real troll. As a D-1aa school one does not move up 4 levels of competition in conferences in 15 years. Does the product need to improve? Hell yea! Can We improve our efforts? I am sure. It took 5 years for Cutcliffe to turn it around at Duke. But when you write "Elon is not committed to football and recruits know this " You are talking out of your anus because your mouth knows better or your just ignorant of the facts. I just think you are a troll and want to bad mouth the program. If We were sitting at the Fat Frogg and you said that you would be picking your butt off the floor. not really but 20 years ago, maybe.

Whoanelli - I'd buy you a beer at the Fat Frog. I'm not a troll. I visit this forum every blue moon to get some insight. Great school and award winning campus and facilities. I've seen 50 games in person since 2010. Maybe you are right, it might take time but there is a reason(s) they are where they are now. Just my opinion based on what I've witnessed. Want nothing but the best for Elon.
