Slumping? Neither are in long enough to get on a roll or have a slump.

Slumping? Neither are in long enough to get on a roll or have a slump. So very true. And both end up playing looking over their shoulders. They've got to be scared to make a mistake because then they get benched. This is not a long term solution.

Improvement no doubt, these guys are still so young and they are responding to coaching and are developing, Summers can be a good back but must run w/ a lower pad level and must keep his legs moving, fundamentals but TD catches well were big plays and that's what they have needed all season. . Towson does look like a good win no doubt. Really watching several parts of many CAA games really show a really talent gap between have and have nots. Uof R W&M JMU and Villanova show as a cut above. And UNH when We played them. and JMU is different team w/o Vad.

We are out of the cellar fellers Thumbs up, Nellie. Three wins so far and maybe two more coming (one can hope). That alone should make us proud. Can we compete with the team's Nellie listed, no. But the trajectory is a good one so far. Can you imagine how good Elon would be in the future if some of the people on this board were in control of the team? Speaking of which, it seems a little nicer and quieter here now. Maybe wins do that....

There may be improvements in our record and the defense. However, our offense is atrocious.

How much of our offensive struggles are from poor execution verses poor play calling? I feel like these young guys are being groomed slowly and as they improve the coaches will open up more of the playbook for them...I feel like we have playmakers, they just need to continue to master their craft and I feel like we saw some of that progress yesterday. My point is, I think the coaches have a proven offensive system, they just need playmakers and these kids are headed in the right direction...
Games against UNH, UofR and JMU made us look like we were digressing, but the reality is they were just more dominant...W&M will be very tough, (I think they are in that elite level of the conference with JMU, UofR, Villanova and UNH). So I think they offense will struggle again next week, but against Maine and Delaware I fully expect us to be able to move the ball.
It's exciting to see progress for the program. I think if we were told back in August that this team would get 2 conference wins this year we all would have agreed that the program was headed in the right direction. And I like our chances of getting at least one more win before this season is over, maybe even two.
Phoenix rising!

Also, would just like to note...Soccer won our first regular season CAA championship yesterday and we had a freshman cross-country runner take the individual CAA championship (second year in a row we've done that). It was a good day and hopefully a little snapshot of where Elon athletics is headed.

Say what you want, but WRs made plays -plural- yesterday, for both QBs, for the first time. Definite improvement in my book. Summers is the real deal, he's just raw. With OL run blocking, which still needs lots of improvement, he will be special. Fc, what's wrong with big plays? Wofford's Breitenstein ran over us 4 or 5 years ago with big plays. Most of his 332 yards came from 4 or 5 plays. It's not like he grinded it out all day. We need to figure out what we did on that play and do it again and again. The D looked very good, especially pass D. Remember, though, Stoney Brook's QB was also a freshman and made several freshman mistakes. W&M is balanced, seasoned and has a very good RB.
I disagree that our O is atrocious. IMO it's fledgling. I more or less agree with PX2008 on that. And if one doesn't see yesterday as improvement, one is simply happy to be negative or afraid of being wrong.
I don't think the dual QB thing is the answer long term, but it worked well yesterday. I liked it and if it works like that, I don't mind seeing it more.

Good win for the team, happy for the boys. Our D played great again, and our O played well enough to win which is progress from last year.
I was at the game, and I must say it was a very fun atmosphere. The stadium had a lot of energy. Their band was absolutely awesome. They have the #5 ranked band in the country and they were very entertaining. They played modern music throughout the game and their halftime performance of MJ's Thriller with their dance team and their mascot out there doing all the thriller moves was awesome. The entire place was loving it. It would be nice to get more energy for our home games.
On the QB situation, as the saying goes "a team with two QBs has no QB"...

Well, for now, I disagree with that saying. One of the college coaches I respect most, Urban Meyer, went with dual QBs for a season at Florida. Generally, I don't like dual QBs either. But frankly, I don't think either is ready to take over completely. It hasn't worked well in the past, but yesterday it did.
Also E10, I think the great atmosphere is cool and I'm sure the band was great, but the attendance was 5,578 and it was family weekend with beautiful weather. The stands looked empty on TV. It appears several CAA teams struggle with the attendance.

Elon at Stony Brook was our second least attended game in front of Elon at Gardner Webb where the attendance was 5450. I do not understand this post, Away attendance should not be an issue to be concerned with.. Frankly it ain't our problem. Now next Saturday when William & Mary both enter OUR cozy confines of Rhodes Stadium. We should at least have a good showing as it will be a major televised CAA programmed event. I am sure the PR folks will think about this Thursday afternoon. Playing big or significant games in November were a mantra for Pete Lembo in his days here. So this Saturday is a significant game on TV and a lot of folks will EU on TV. I hope We show out well.

A BIG WIN! That's most important thing and it gives the boys some confidence.
The Defense was AWESOME once again. Pressured the Red-Shirt Freshman QB into many mistakes which is a team confidence builder all around. Again, the clear strength of the team.
The offense - plays were made when they had to be. As I noted earlier 2 QB system until one is clearly the front runner but again, neither is truly ready to start. Some great plays were made for once by the WR's (will overlook a few drops due to the plays made...)which is a great thing to see. And the running game had some positives as well.
Play calling once again is a crap-shoot. Why is it that every time we run a WR screen that generally loses yds or barely gets back to the line of scrimmage, we automatically follow up with a running play right up the middle? This happened so many times in the first half of the season and then finally we got away from it (some, not all, but some) and now back to it again...it consistently puts us into 3rd and long and many times causes 3 and outs only to put the D back on the field with less than a 2 min break! This wont work against WM or any mid to top tier program in the CAA...that's for sure.
But a win is a win and will take it. Wish I just had more confidence in the play calling going forward against the final 3 opponents but lets hope the defense can keep us in these games and who knows, maybe we can get another 1-2 wins! Go Phoenix!

This may be a little off topic, but has anyone noticed that after a win, all the "guests" with their moaning and groaning have disappeared? Strange.
