Would like to see DT and the offense put in a consistent performance for four quarters. Also would love to see us finish tackles. Its getting old watching 7-8 different players having their hands on the ball carrier just to slide off.

One many reason we haven scored more is evident. First no Scott Riddle. Second Skrosky's play calls. Watching the game he is more interested in controlling the play clock and extending the drives that getting quick scores. This works if our Defense can stop on ensuing drives. We are not the high flying offense of Petes tenure anymore I get that Elon's football tradition is not great or have a long list of quality players but we need to stop talking about Scott Riddle. Even if we had him now we don't have a WR even close to what he had for him to throw to so really wouldn't matter. He probably be running for his life more than anything. I will say Skrosky has been. Very conservative with his offense play calling. Not sure why. Some of it could be young QB and team can't under stand it all, not sure. I think the problem is if we go 3 and out 3 or 4 drives in a row which we have seen our defense gets no rest and as we have see. Falls apart the 2nd half because they were on the fields for 50 plays in the first half. While our offense ran 15. I do wish we would open up down field. Obviously this mean. The line needs to be able to block for at least 3 seconds. The wr actually needs to get separation from the DB and the QB actually has to get the ball to him. Doing all three of these have been very difficult the last 5 years. Let along then the actual catch needs to be made. I think there is more to it than just play calling but can't keep doing the same thing over and over that doesn't work. Maybe it worked at Ball State or when you were OC at elon but it's not now.

Well, what is the consensus? We won but...

A win is a win....
* We were awful on third down. 3-13!
* D played well.
* We could have had many more of our QB could have connected on a few passes. Missed a number of wide open receivers.
* I'm a little fearful of what the rest of the CAA is going to do to us if we can't score. We settled for field goals against an inferior team.
* The real season begins next week. I hope we make some noise.

DT was terrible. Time to move on to the next QB.

Obviously happy we won. Obviously not very happy how we won. We always knew our best players were our kickers. They both proved it tonight.
DT is a mess. He looks pretty good at times. Then can't hit an open reciever to save his life. Our running game was alright. Still didn't take many shots down the field. Defense looked good but really when you know the QB can't throw well and likes to run kind of makes it a like easier for you. Over all we are screwed if you start to look at the league. Maybe we can squeeze one out against Rhode Island. Outside that not sure.

5 QBs on roster, one a transfer from DI Butler (non-scholarship). Who is next in line?
CAA is going to murder us. Rhode Island is light years beyond Fay St.

I've been mentioning this for two years. The two scholarship QB situation is the biggest mistake Skrosky has made. Followed closely by the antique spread offense we run.
We must take two scholarship QB's in this class. Without the threat of the read option from a running QB the spread does nothing in these times. It's no longer a novelty. We can't run our QB - because we can't risk injury. This is a huge problem.

We're in trouble folks. Fayetteville State is a 0-3, lower level DII team that we were only able to muster 2 TDs against. I'm not a betting person, but if I were I would bet my house on Elon not winning another game this season. I love Elon sports, but this is simply sorry. Within each of the various levels of football we have played, this appears to be the worst team we've had. This is so not what I expected from Skrosky et. al.

Fightn, With all due respect, I think it's a bit early to make that judgment. I say that ONLY because I think the play calling has been severely unaggressive, and sometimes mind-boggling. For example, one thing that stood out for me last year was CC's ability on a rollout. In the first game, I don't think he rolled out once. On DT's third play, a rollout to the right. You may well be right, but I really don't think play calling has allowed them to showcase what they can do. I also think they are hampered by the inability of the receivers to gain separation -- not to mention the drops that have plagued them the past couple years.

Homer:
DT has a thrown 5 touchdown passes to go along with 13 interceptions in his short Elon career.
Improvement is desperately needed.

I hate being critcal. I really do. I just can't grasp the fact that we have thrown one, ONE TD pass in three games.

Just to put things in perspective Warren Ruggiero was the offensive Coordinator when Pete Lembo first came and that's when our offense was exciting and productive and it was his offense. When he left to go to D-1 Kansas State? Skrosky took over as OC and our production lessened. Ruggiero is now OC at Wake Forest. Last year we had a true DC who had a system and a scheme. We now do not have a true OC and the D C has no experience and was a position coach for 1 year. Our kids are as big as most we play, just as speedy and at least as smart. It is not who is playing nor who should play. It is the lack of qualified coordinators and the inability to make halftime adjustments. We will not win another game this year and it should not be blamed on the players.
