I think this has gone off the rails somewhat so trying to bring it back...
My first question is just trying to understand. Why did we play in the CIT in 2013 but not now? Did something change? I am just wondering as I think some of you know more about how things on the inside work than I do
The second topic is Luke. It probably doesn't show but I love the kid and have watched all the games he has played. He is a true representative of Elon and I love his spirit. I do think he has not been good enough (during end of games especially). That doesn't mean that I can't name ANY moments that were good or any good qualities, however. I can name several and he is a good defender for sure. I could also name some games he was not good enough in my opinion. Anyway, if reasonable minds disagree, that is fine. I am thankful at least a few of us care about Elon hoops as there aren't enough of us in my opinion so keep bringing the passion.

Perhaps to take this in even a different direction, I pose the following question. Since it seems that the inferred most important goal (in terms of success in competition) for the Elon athletics is a NCAA Tournament bid for Men's Basketball, is the program getting any closer to this goal? Is it progressing fast enough?

I think on an island yes. Next year's team should be better than this year's although I am not sure that success is sustainable given what I see from our freshman and incoming recruits (though I am no expert)
Anyway, that was my disappointment in the lack of CIT and CBI interest. With another tournament experience, I would hope that would help the team grow even more for next year and maybe beyond but it seems there is no interest or something changed from the interest we had 4 years ago

What do you know about the incoming recruits that concerns you?

The rankings of the incoming freshman are not nearly as high as those for the other conference teams'
Not an exact science but if you look back over the past few years, there are more solid rankings than ones that are off

And I know I'm the only one but I'm still mad about the CBI and CIT here on my island

I love coming over here to read about expectations for next year.
You have a coach who guided you to a top 4 finish.
What resources did you provide him? Budget? The bigger the budget, the better assistants he can hire, the more you spend on receuiting budget...the better recruits you get.
The better assistants you get (more budget) the better recruuts you get.
Matheny has proven he can coach, top 4 finish this year. I don't recall many (even you guys) saying this was a top 4 team preseason.
The new gym will help with recruiting , but you have to invest and bring that budget up before you expect anything more than you are getting.
