A trip to the house of horrors tonight....I think the only CAA venue we have not won in. If the trend continues, we will parlay our win at Towson into a loss tonight. Any reason for me to think I may be wrong?

The next four games will go a long way in determining how our season will be remembered.

Very pleased with the effort of our players last night against W&M. When we closed to within 2 after having been down 19, I was VERY impressed. UNC would have had a hard time against W&M last night. They were shooting lights out and were playing VERY fast. The Pierce kid was shooting out of his mind and Cohn was a great floor general. Frankly, I thought that we would lose by 30 plus after the first half, but our guys showed a lot of character in the 2nd half. There are still a couple of things I don't understand, like why we didn't shoot threes within the last 3 minutes, and why we took so long to make the shots, but that's why I don't make a living as a basketball coach.
Overall, I'm very proud of the team after the last two games. I hope they can continue to play fast and hard nosed for the rest of the season. We still have a chance to finish the season respectably. Here's hoping for a blowout against Delaware!

Sure, they are good characteristics but I am sick of being respectable and having good character. I expected so much more from this season. The coaches in the league know the talent we have and we are going to finish well below where we were projected. Everything is like we are the little engine that could while the truth of the matter is we returned 5 seniors and a veteran coaching staff and all we have gotten from that are terrible road results (as a whole), a lack of execution in the last 5 minutes of games, and poor discipline (turnovers) among other things. Great, it was a valiant effort. The bottom line, team, is that you came into a big road game and let the other team hang 100 on you while shooting almost 60%.
That said, we will probably win enough games to finish in the middle tier (9-9 or even 10-8), which will satisfy everyone who doesn't actually care if Elon ever becomes a solid program. This year is the peak, which is just depressing. It is only going downhill the next few years

I meant 5 starters - not 5 seniors

Don't take my comments above to be an endorsement of what's happened or what may happen this season. Far from it.
What I expected 9 years ago was a McKillop-esque/Davidson-esque transformation of our program. The Schar is the last piece of the puzzle. I expected this season's freshman class and next season's freshman class to reflect some pre-selling of the Schar. That's not the case as I currently see it. Our 5 starters are the best players on the team. To my eye, there is no one with the potential of filling Meech's or Dawkins' roles next year, and certainly Seibring's the following year. Unless player development changes dramatically, at least the next couple of years will be thin.
That being said, the games Elon played against Towson and the last game against W&M were in the ballpark of what I expected this year.

I was a little torn after this one as well. W&M did shoot lights out and I liked seeing Elon fight back and get within arms reach at the end, but just frustrated with the poor execution in the final 2 minutes and getting outhustled for most of the first half.
Some things that were apparent: W&M played so much faster and ran circles around Elon. We've seen this a lot this year and when you factor in torrid shooting it's going to be tough to win. We have to get some kind of inside presence. Dawkins has done as much as he can, but it's just a mismatch against most big men. And the cupboard appears to be bare when he's gone. Knight was great.
All in all, I wasn't as upset after last night's loss, but ultimately it's more of the same.
Elon returning a ton of experience. W&M lost 4 of their top players from last year. Season sweep for W&M. That sums up this season.
Go Phoenix!

Is there a full moon across the eastern seaboard tonight? Drexel kicks the crap out of W&M, Jmu beats Towson and we finish a game. What's going on? Congrats to the Phoenix, solid and complete game. Gave up too many 2nd chance points and Santa Ana did his best impression of Grayson Allen in a stupid technical, but other than that stats look pretty good. We had 23 assists tonight & Swoop crossed the 1000 point line.

Good win tonight, took care of business pretty easily as Elon should have.
Rest of the season:
Hof W JMU W @uncw W @del L @cofc L NE W
4-2 would be a solid finish, 10-8 overall in conference.
I think we slip up and lose one of the UNCW/Del road games and for sure don't expect beating CofC on the road. Northeastern will be challenging game at home but I think enough experience with the last home game will pull it through.
I think if we finish 4-2 the rest of the way out, we end up getting the 4th seed in the tourney which would be about as predicted.
