Agents should be calling, If JMU takes us to the woodshed tonight I think the Elephant enters the room. a good HC from D-2 would relish this opportunity. Just WIN-Baby!

Do you consider mid-300,000's low? (I have heard a rumor that this is the current HC salary). As I understand it is competitive in the CAA. If it isn't then what would be competitive? No idea about the CAA but the A10 (higher level, I know), ranges from $600k to $1M annual salary for the coaches according to a Davidson alum who should know.

Here's the salary data for the latest available years 1.) Northeastern: $630k in 2016 2.) Drexel- salary for Zach Spiker is unclear but Flint was paid $581k in his final season 3.) College of Charleston: 561k in 2018 4.) Hofstra: $454k in 2016 but signed an extension in 2018 so probably worth a little more 5.) Towson: $443k in 2016 6.) Delaware: unclear. Despite being a public institution, it’s not required to release salary data. Estimates put it at around $375k. 7.) Elon: $302k in 2016 7.) UNCW: $300k in 2018 with a buttload of incentives 9.) James Madison: $260k in 2016 10.) W&M 224,000 in 2014

Finally have a facility. Time to put money into coaches, recruiting budgets, program enhancements, etc. Do you realize that even with a brand new locker room, lounge and video room, it wouldn't be considered as one of the nicest locker rooms, etc. in the CAA. Schar is wonderful, but we still lag way behind the top schools.

Thanks to the Elon site being so transparent on how bad Matt's career record is, I was able to quickly update with this year's results.
10 years with a record of 151-169 and 81-97 in conference. 5-10 in conference tourneys with 5 straight conf tourney losses. 0 championship game appearances.
Remove Matt's 20-1 record against non D1 opponents and he's 131-168.

If you are serious about making a difference send an email to dblank@elon.edu about how Matheny needs to go. It is a disgrace to our school and program to accept abysmal results. Blank is not going to do anything unless he can see fans bringing this to his attention and voicing their displeasure.

I've defended him in the past, but can't do that after this season. It's time to make a change.

I guess I can sort of understand an argument for keeping him through the end of his contract, but it is pretty hard to imagine him doing anything in the next 2 years to show that he should be extended beyond that...and that being the case why not go ahead and move on?
I was really excited about Matheny when we hired him, but we just aren't doing much of anything. Even in the 2-3 good years we've flamed out hard in the conference tournament.

I’d like to see this program be more I. The middle of the pack of all 300+ Division one teams. The team will be losing 3 of its leading scorers who all happen to be in the Elon record books, that will be a very hard gap to fill. Let a new coach come in, win 8 games next year, 15 the next and grow from there. Matt and crew will never be able to get a group up to par. Wooten, Priddy, Pack, Poser and Wright could possibly be our starting five next year with Fuller, Radja, Stubbs and Scott as our reserves. We will be the laughing stock of the CAA unless we regroup and regroup now.

I watched this season from here and agree that this regime has to go ! So little talent coming back and absolutely horrible recruiting. The only way to move the administration would be to get the 'very big' donors to press the 'powers that be' to fire this guy. What does Mr. Schar have to say about all of this ? His name on an absolutely state of the art building that will be empty going forward.

Matt has a career conference record of 79-98. It would be one thing if we had a few bright years ahead of us, with promise. Instead, 7 point per game Priddy is our best returning player.
His scheme is garbage, his recruiting is terrible, and he has turned our brand new facility into a second home for opposing teams, (unless of course you are a D3 or NAIA schoo)l.
If Matt is here 2 more years based on what some are saying, and then you give a new coach 2 years to adjust and bring in his own guys, it means year 6 of the Schar is likely the first above 500 season. There’s no appeal to that, and the attraction of the facility is gone, meaning the community impact of the facility is wasted. Buying him out will cost money, but keeping him around likely costs just as much.
With Santa Ana and Sheldon out against UMKC WE LOST BY 40. That was still with seibring. UMKC went 10-20 this year, they were terrible. That’s what we have to look forward to next year. It would be an overacheivement to hit 4-14 in the CAA next year.
All it takes is Blank or Book finding one generous donor, but I’m not holding my breath on it because they both exude a great deal of complacency and incompetence.

If in fact his contract was recently extended and there is a buyout, why is Blank not on the hook for that bad decision? To extend 4 years when he hadn't accomplished anything after 8 years is just dumb.
It seems to me that Blank's entire tenure revolves around trying to do as little as possible as it relates to hiring and firing. A lot of action around football, but even that has been a result of fixing poor hires to begin with or the coach leaving.
It's as if no one is held accountable for anything and it's maddening. I don't blame Matt...if someone is dumb enough to keep paying me $300K a year to not deliver on anything I said I was going to do, why wouldn't I take that?

As the axe falls at the following: Fairfield Niagra Mercer Troy St
They are showing that performance matters. Something that if Book and Blank don’t move on - does not matter.
Let’s celebrate mediocrity!!!!

The Mercer coach went to the tourney recently and beat Duke in the first round. Amazing to see the difference in expectations.
