Four games left....three at home...only one opponent has a winning record.
Can we finish with a decent run or do we fall flat like last year?

First time in, I believe, a decade that Elon will finish the season with a losing record at home. Lose 1 home game and I think it will be the worst home winning percentage since 2006.

5 actually and I expect a 2-3 or 3-2 finish which will result in an equally disastrous 6-12 or 7-11 mark. More of the same. See you next year in the bottom 4 with Matheny focusing on continued improvement

Actually looking at the box score from the Northeastern game, one of the best teams/programs in conference...we lost in OT despite our heralded senior class combined for only 27 points.
So our underclassmen finished with over half our production and we lost on the road to one of the best programs (in OT).
Yet, Dougie thinks that isn't improvement?
C of C- L
(Correct)
UNCW- W
(Correct)
Delaware- L
(Incorrect) Drexel- W
(Incorrect) Hofstra- L
(Correct) Northeastern-L
(Correct) W&M-W
UNCW-W
CofC- W
James Madison-W
Towson- W
Need to finish 5-0 to meet my predictions and a 9-9 finish.
FYI- I think 3-2 is a lock.
7 wins after losing starting senior PG would be a solid season and warrants Matheny another season.
We were picked at the bottom of the league and lost our starting senior PG, relying heavily on underclassmen to carry the load.
Look at Northeastern, starting senior PG
Hofstra has a junior who has played 30+ MPG his entire career.
If you want to win big in this league, you need experienced guard play.
We have Priddy running the show, a Sophomore with no minutes as a freshman.
If we had a senior PG, we would of had a winning record in conference play this year.
All of these close losses are due to lack of leadership from the point guard spot.
Even if Swoope returns next year, landing a program leading PG is essential for next year. PERIOD. Priddy is ok for a backup but he isn't what we need.

Just remember we lost seven straight to close out the year with said PG in the line up. We also get nothing from three full scholarship players including another senior.
Just an observation.

Seth Fuller is in year three as a point guard, but he has rendered himself useless out there, so the idea that Matheny doesn’t have a veteran point guard is flawed. Priddy has been the worst point guard in the CAA, and never will be a top half of the league guard. Swoope wasn’t saving this season.
Rada, Kondratas, Fuller, and even Wright all appear to be wasted scholarships. You can’t build a program with a third of your scholarships being wasted.
2-3 best case. Could see 0-5. 3-2 is a pipe dream. Guarantee a top 10 finish.

That’s really not an accomplishment, especially considering they don’t have any juniors to compete with for minutes.

I would say majority of underclassmen competing with 2nd best team in conference on the road is a solid result and points to a bright future.

This program has had potential for 10-years... We can't just say, "oh look at our youth they are competing" That has been the case literally since 2010. However, each class has arguably gotten worse as they forgot what their high school coaches taught them and started listening to Matt. They only got stronger, which Matt has nothing to do with. They did not improve the X's and O's. If they did we would not still be hucken-up threes.
We lack actual skill as the result of bad recruiting and that won't change under Matt. You cannot live and die by the three and make to March Madness. That is the only thing Matt knows and every opponent knows it.
I dont need every player on the basketball team to be a great person or a scholar. We need a mix of book nerds (cough cough walk-ons), some good people (Think Sebring), and then some people who are not "Elon Bubble" people now...Maybe they can learn, but I want to see a real basketball player not a student with a hobby...

Yeah you can bring in some "non elon people" but be prepared to defend everything that comes along with it.
NC State has had players going around shooting BB guns.
UNC had PJ Hairston riding around with weed and a gun.
Many schools have had to deal with rape cases with athletes.
DWI's, drug charges....that is what you WILL get.
And you will also be dealing with transfers cause you are talking about the kids who are fron AAU teams and will bounce as soon as thry arent getting minutes and the handlers will line up the lining spot before informing Elon.
It may not happen the first year or the first 5, but eventually you will have headlines
"Elon player charged with rape"
"Elon player charged with drug possession"
"Elon players charged with rape of drunk girl"
Be careful what you ask for!

That's quite a slippery slope, you got there! There are quality basketball programs all over the country that are somehow able to not "run afoul of the law". The apocalyptic scenario you posit, doesn't occur in the top CAA programs. Vetting of personnel, whether it is staff or players is essential. Unfortunately, some programs take take big risk for high reward. That's not necessary to have a quality program and still get winning results. MM's old team - Davidson - is a good example.
