Any idea what this season may look like for us and the CAA as a whole?
Hoping this team and staff get some semblance of a season in. I was under the impression that we were making the right strides to end last year and might see some more improvement this year?
Hoping someone more in the know might be able to shed some light.

I saw it rumored on D1 docket that Elon will play in a tournament in Durham with Duke, Howard and Bellarmine. Looks like it's only two games so Elon would play Duke and I'm assuming Howard.
Whether it happens or not remains to be seen, but glad to see some things in the works.
Go Phoenix!

They released the CAA conference schedule. No home & home series, but will play each team 2 time in back-to-back games on Sat/Sun with both games being either home/away. The exception is W&M, who is our "travel partner" that we do have a true home & home with. Home: Towson, Drexel, UNCW, W&M (1), Hofstra Away: Northeastern, JMU, Delaware, CofC, W&M (1) /photo/1 caasports.com/news/2020/10/13/caa-announces-2020-21-mens-and-womens-basketball-conference-schedules.aspxThis article is about NCAA in general. It is a max of 24-25 games with an additional multi-team event. So we could add 6-7 non-conference games as well as play in that event in Durham that euphoenix99 was talking about. I think we had one more return game at UNC after they came to open up the Schar Center, but not sure if that is this year or if they try to push it with limited non-conference games. Also, I don't pay attention to scheduling enough to know whether any of the other non-conference games from last year's schedule are ones with return games either home or away. www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/29900866/sources-ncaa-college-basketball-season-start-nov-25

OK, I took a deeper look at last year's non-conference schedule. We played (3) NAIA/DII/DIII opponents, which we should probably get rid of with limited non-conference games available. We had 4 games tied in with the mainland portion of Battle4Atlantis, which wouldn't be tied into having a multi-year series. That only leaves 4 games that could have possible return games, assuming we aren't getting GA Tech to come back to Elon.
Mars Hill - DII Milligan - NAIA GA Tech - Away, doubt there was a return game Michigan - Battle 4 Atlantis UNC - Battle 4 Atlantis & See Above Manhattan - Home, possible return game? Furman - Battle 4 Atlantis UT Arlington - Battle 4 Atlantis Kennesaw State - Home, possible return game? NC Wesleyan - DIII Campbell - Away, possible return game? Winthrop - Away, possible return game?
In general, I feel like with COVID they will be looking for "local" games that the team can bus to. Would be nice to get a Power 5 game, but not sure how those teams are looking to schedule this year with the limited non-conference games. There are some good regional teams that are mid-majors as well - Davidson, VCU, Wofford, UNCG. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

ODU has us on their schedule at ODU on Dec. 4

From what I'm seeing the ODU game won't be on Dec 4th because we are playing Howard and Duke in the Duke Invitational during Dec 4-6 according to Jeff Goodman. I could still see us playing ODU at some point, but nothing has been updated yet. Hopefully we get to keep the UNC away game because that was scheduled for Dec 12, so it didn't end up being cut from the later start date. For the remaining 4-5 nonconference games, I'm thinking we could still have Winthrop, High Point, Campbell at home as possibilities because those are all return games from the 2 year contracts. I don't see Kennesaw or Manhattan being on the schedule because last year was the 2nd game of the 2 year agreements. I imagine there will be at least 1 non D1 game.
Also a side note, there are reports from the Three Man Weave and Brian Mull that Jadun Michael is having shoulder surgery and could be done for the season, so not so great news there.

Was the shoulder injured in practice recently? Believe they started back up within the last week or so. If he’s done for the year you have to think it means Hannah will be seeing 30-35 minutes a game now, especially with Sheffield gone ? Hoping for a breakout season from him!

I believe it was done in practice. As for Hannah, unless we’re very injured or in foul trouble I can’t see him getting to more than 25 mpg on the season. Schrage wants to play 4 wings/guards and 1 big man, so I expect Hannah/Wright/Poser to rotate for the big man minutes depending on the matchup. I figure that Ike and JGB are the two guys that will take up Shef’s minutes from last year.

This year’s team will look a lot different than last year’s. Primarily because Shef is gone. He was a game changer for our program and was arguably the best player down the stretch in the CAA.
Our schedule is nearly complete. Some interesting games on the docket some with a great local flare.

I am a current student at Elon and make it part of my routine to run by the Schar center every day now that the season is fastly approaching. The other day I saw Duje Radja leaving the facility. I thought he was not back this year but now I am questioning myself.
Is it possible that with the JaDun injury, Coach Schrage reached out to Duje in attempt to keep him around as a veteran voice in the locker room? I don't really trust this young core in crunch time now that Sheffield is gone so it would make sense to have a two year CAA player stay in the mix as a mentor???
