Are practices open to the public? Have practice times been made available? Do we even have a team? I think one of the frustrating things about the current state of Elon athletics is the complete lack of transparency within the athletic department. In this age of social media, there should be much more information provided on a D1 program, but there is nothing.
And this is not just football. It is with every sport at the school. Blank needs to get on it.

Totally agree! Example: women’s basketball still has last years roster on its page. The sports information department is a total void and it appears that Blank is just that…..blank.

Yep, apathy starts at the top and filters to be bottom in a short amount of time.
Lazy and arrogant is a bad mix.

There has been minimal communication to the public since Blank took over. The last fan/community outreach effort was when Lembo was head coach. The appearance is that Elon Athletics wants nothing to do with the Elon/Alamance County/North Carolina fan base.
I assume football practices are open, but I have seen no information on that. Most of what I learn is from Twitter & Instagram.

Trust me, I don’t want to bash Blank, but Elon is coming off of a pretty solid athletic year in a number of sports.
FB - 3rd in CAA WXC - CAA Champs MSOC - CAA Finalist MTNS - CAA Finalist SB - CAA Finalist WTNS - CAA Finalist WT&F - CAA Champs VB - CAA Finalist
A whole bunch of runner-ups, but if anything the athletic department (Marketing especially) should be capitalizing on this and building hype up for this athletic year. However, the website is not updated and the only thing talked about currently are the Basketball teams in Italy. It’s disappointing and needs to be addressed immediately.
Before anyone jumps in, “no one cares about sport outside of the big three”, that’s nonsense. There are solid coaches and athletes on the campus. Tendler, Anderson, Leonard, Kennedy, Bocock, and Elliston have been here forever and have had success. In my eyes, this falls on a complacent administrative team that lacks desire to grow the brand outside of Football & Men’s Basketball. They need to get in Alamance County, connect with the community, and get them involved. The excuses are outdated at this point. Fix it or find someone that will.
Sorry for the rant, but I am tired of seeing missed opportunities. Especially seeing some of the people on this board, who have been so committed and invested (socilally and financially) to the Elon Community for years, feeling down about the athletic department and still seeing nothing changing… it is truly bs.

If you want to see how it's done, go to High Point. You won't find a Walmart, grocery store, convenience store, pro baseball stadium, etc. that isn't doused in HPU purple. Nido Qubein knows how to do community outreach. Blank/Book do not. Frankly, I don't think they really care to do any outreach, it somehow seems beneath them.
Another quick point, The Burlington Sock Puppets, a collegiate league team, which has been here for only two years, has been all the rage the past two summers. How is it that an upstart summer league baseball team already has more notoriety and fan following in Alamance County than a NCAA D1 university??
To back up your point FTP, we have the product. No one knows how to promote it. It seems like all Elon does is walk around with its hand out begging for money.

Elon has been soooo bad with marketing and fan engagement on top of the lack of excitement on campus for athletics. It starts with you AD who let’s be honest is very out of touch with almost everyone associated with Elon. And then runs down to marketing and to coaches. While the teams have been successful the athletic department does very little to capitalize on that success.
They do very little to get the local fans excited. A fan day for fall sports would be start? Meet the teams and coaches. Let kids get autographs. Anything.
Drum up some excitement on campus - which I know can be very difficult to do. It also takes some players being good ambassadors for their teams to the general student to make that connection as well.

This is news to me also. It should have been announced immediately and prominently. Mellette is one of the all-time Elon greats. This reminds me of the 2010 commencement program, when the student announcer didn't know how to pronounce Terrell Hudgins's name.

Elon doesn't care about being competive in sports. We're a "Evy League" want to be school. The football program is 10-16 under Trisciani in his 3 years here. And he had Elon best QB David Cheeks all that time.

And he had Elon best QB David Cheeks all that time. Don’t get ahead of yourself. David Cheeks was solid at best in his tenure at Elon. Did a good job of ball control but was never a true threat that stretched the field often and pulled pressure away from the line and RB’s. Not even close to the threat Riddle and Co were during their tenure. With that said, let’s see how the program fares in a non-pandemic season. 3rd in the CAA last year and one bad loss to Villanova mixed in with expected losses to D-I App St and JMU and two other very close losses. Last year should absolutely be viewed as a step in the right direction. Now we see if they can take it another and make a return to the FCS playoffs. Regarding Athletics as a whole, it was surprising to see Elon land someone of Mike Ward’s caliber and it was unfortunate, but also not surprising, to see him move on. Overall I haven’t seen a lot of home run hires on the staffing front during Blanks time at Elon. And there are a lot of individuals who have been around since the Fighting Christian days who have never been around major Power 5 programs. Having that type of knowledge goes a long way. Something the department has mostly been missing.
