This has the makings to be one hell of a game. I want to see McKay and our receivers put on a show, but this feels like it will be a 4-Quarter ground and pound type of matchup.

Weather may be a big factor as what's left of Ian may be moving through then.

Elon has given up 80 pts in the first half this season and only 17 in the 2nd half. 14 of those were against Vandy, so they've only given up 3 second half points in the last 3 games. Just need to figure out how not to dig a hole in the first half.
I think bad weather on Saturday would work to Elon's advantage, but with it being family weekend it would keep people away for what would likely be a 10-11K attendance game.
Go Phoenix!

Disclaimer: Notwithstanding impending foul weather... Udinski has done a great job throwing the ball against the FCS teams they've played this season. He is very accurate, given the time to throw. I watched the Stony Brook/UR game replay last night. I'm not sure how the St. Fran or Lehigh games went, but SB who typically has a good D, didn't put pressure on him more than 4-5 times, if that. Udinski will attempt 40+ passes per game, most of which are of the dink & dunk variety. He seems to be a quick decision maker and, as I said, accurate, but he's not a dual threat QB. He can move a little to gain extra time, but won't be able to dodge multiple rushers. In that game he was, almost exclusively, a pocket passer. No real play action or QB keeper plays. SB was able to easily shut down any UR rushing attempts. So, It looks to me that the key to success will be how well our D is able to handle the UR OL. Udinski effectively moves the ball around, but his favorite receiver is #5 Jasiah Williams, 5'11" 186 lb. He's definitely a speedster with hands. He has 34 receptions averaging 8.3 yards per this season.
The UR D did a good job handling the SB offense, but frankly, the SB offense looked hapless. The announcers continually talked about how their offense had been decimated by injuries. So, this game wasn't a fair judge of their D.
Ratings often don't mean squat, But here are the Massey ratings for the FCS teams we and they have played:
UR opponents: St. Francis PA - 65 Lehigh - 87 Stony Brook - 91
Elon opponents: Wofford - 66 Gardner Webb - 77 William & Mary - 22
Again, notwithstanding foul weather, I think we have the edge with the home game.

FWIW, Vanderbilt is 69 and UVA is 68 on FBS Massey ratings.

Hero Sports predicts Richmond 28, Elon 24. Credits Richmond offense "more explosive playmaking ability."
Phoenix defense will be tested, must be on fire for four quarters. McKay and company must achieve consistency.
Go, Phoenix!

McKay and company must achieve consistency. Go, Phoenix! Well... They consistently will not quit! Hell of a game. I'm not sure how good Delaware actually is, but let me tell ya, Richmond is fantastic team on both sides of the ball. We're down some of our best players on D but still found a way. I couldn't be prouder of this team. Fantastic game!

Just rewatched the game and have a lot of thoughts.
1. This team fought and fought hard. If you rewatch the game, there were moments where Richmond was giving us the business on both sides of the ball. However, the Phoenix and coaching staff remained calm and finished the game.
2. Huesman’s 4th and Goal call is still mind-blowing to me. I understand wanting to end the game there, but not converting the play, gave life to the Phoenix and they capitalized. A chip shot field goal would have put the Spiders up 6 and Elon would have to score a TD on a defense that locked them down in the 2nd half. Spiders message board has been going off and they have every right.
3. Best special teams duo (Yurk and Davis) since Wilcox and Lane.
4. Brayboy was so solid on special teams.
5. Herres from Richmond was a grown man out there. He made big play after big play. He is a nightmare for opposing DB’s.
6. Loved K. Walker on the broadcast with Taylor Durham. Definitely brought it. His reaction on Richmond 4th was hilarious. You could tell he wanted to say other things about the decision and play call.
7. Elon DB’s are beat up, but Antonio White was huge in the end. Loved how this group finished the game.
8. OL is going to have a long film session today. Richmond may have the best DL in the CAA and it showed itself often.
9. I expect there is going to be some tough love this week, so everyone can really lock in for Towson!
4-1!

Hopefully we'll have a lot of our injured players back this and next week. We certainly can't overlook Towson, but after that we have URI, UNH and UD, tough stretch. Boys need to take care of each other these next few weeks.
