At 5-3; 3-2 in the CAA, this is a huge game for the Phoenix and with any hope of postseason play, the Phoenix need to come out firing and put together their best four quarters of football this season. I have not given up on this crew yet and I have not pressed the panic button, but a loss to Delaware would be a tough pill to swallow on a season that had so much promise just two weeks ago.
Regardless and always, Go Phoenix!

We'll have to play our best game of the season today. It may come down to turnovers. Our defense leads the CAA in fumbles recovered. Delaware's defense is third in that category. A win may not help us get in the playoffs, but it would certainly show that our early success against top CAA opponents was not a fluke.
Go, Phoenix!

I’ll be honest, a win today and finishing strong puts this group at 8 wins with only two FCS losses to ranked teams, which should mean an at-large bid. There are some big games in the conference these next few weeks, so if they take care of business, they should be playing Thanksgiving weekend.

Colossal team win! Biggest since defeating James Madison in 2018.
Defense rose up: three turnovers, no points allowed after opening drive.
Offense: rushing and passing both effective. O-line deserves a lot of credit. McKay and receiving corps delivered as needed. Hampton devastated.
Special teams: all-time great Skyler Davis.
Go, Phoenix!

He has been crushed on the board these last couple of weeks, but give OC Folmar unbelievable amounts of credit. His gameplan was outstanding and executed to perfection. So impressed by the scheme and execution of this group and with all the injuries, they battled. I’ll rewatch it tomorrow, but as always, loved the call, and loved the result.
Can’t have a letdown next week vs. Albany.

Loose the white helmets and pants. Our colors are maroon and gold not maroon and white. Great game on all fronts, especially without an all conference receiver and 2 all conference defensive players.

Can’t have a letdown next week vs. Albany. I have been one of the crushers. But frankly, for the first time since Vanderbilt, the offense took what the opponent's defense gave them. I was at the game today. The 27-7 score wasn't nearly that close. We were in control the entire game, offensively and defensively. Even so, we could easily have scored another 14 points. However, I will agree the game plan was perfect for Delaware. Hampton was a BEAST today. He just would not go down. Skyler Davis set a new record for field goal distance at 53 yards. With that kick he also became the all time career points scorer, (317), for Elon, going ahead of Terrell Hudgins. Big congratulations to the entire team.

Congrats to Skyler, but I think the points mark is only at the FCS level. Bobby Hedrick accounted for 392 points. I like winning. That was fun. Team needs to stay focused and win out. I want to see some playoff football. Also the white helmets are awesome.

Just finished watching the game on FloSports, my takeaways:
1) Like Richmond, I was concerned with the physicality of Delaware, but the Phoenix were up to the challenge.
2) MCKAY DESIGNED RUNS. We have sprinkled this in from time to time this season but yesterday, it was a clear part of the game plan. Really effective and seemed to benefit Matt as well.
3) Beat up, but not broken Defense. So many injures coming in and then injuries to Johnson and Jones, which was rough. Jones returned, but a great effort. Very impressed with DC Edwards and his ability to maximize this group.
4) Confused about Delaware’s offensive gameplan. We have struggled against the run and with one of our best defensive players out, I thought this would be a huge part of the game. I was wrong, MAJORLY. Walker alluded to it on the broadcast and how at one point, Delaware was at 1.8 ypc.
5) Offensive line was everywhere. Williams and Purcell had some bonehead penalties. I think they had 6 between them. However, for the first time in a while, they were absolutely dominate up front and kept Matt clean. Hope they can build on it.
6) Skyler Davis is the real deal and I hope we give him the opportunity to make some big kicks down the stretch.
7) WRs were outstanding yesterday. Durham and Walker both discussed how they were playing with awareness of the first down markers and fighting each play to get to the sticks.
8) Crowd sucked. This HAS to be fixed. I’m sick of the excuses, I’m sick of the lack of effort, and I feel for those players.
9) Excited to be back for Homecoming and watch an Albany team that has been in a lot of close games. This will be no walk in the park.
10) I will mention it every week. The Durham/Walker tandem is outstanding on TV. It’s fun to listen to and just makes the game worthwhile. Hope they can keep this duo together.
So proud of this team and Trisciani should be in the running for Coach of the Year with a strong finish. Hope to see a great crowd and can’t wait to be back in Rhodes Stadium on Saturday.

Agree with all points ftp made. Just to amplify:
3) I don't know if all the fans appreciate just how beaten up we are on D because of the awesome performance we had yesterday. We have a number of key personnel either out or playing hurt. Coach Edwards has not only devised an awesome game plan, but motivated the players to go way above and beyond. I hope we can keep him for a few more seasons.
4) The only thing I can figure is UD saw how UNH lit us up last week and did their best to do the same. Their coaches just failed to make adjustments at the half. But I'm confused too.
8) There are a few things I think can be done to further entice the students to attend the games, (in addition to winning), but student fans reflect our student body, which is largely uninterested in sports. Maybe I shouldn't be so negative, but I really think we may top out at 2,000 +/- Elon student fans. Where we have really lost attendance is from the community. Winning is only part of the equation. I think we have a pretty good product. The problem is the University does not attempt to connect with the community. They used to at least give lip service, but now they essentially just give the community the middle finger. And the community basically returns the sentiment in kind. There are a lot of Appalachian State students from the Alamance County area. If the University could do sincere outreach in the community, we could form an, albeit smaller, App State type of fan base. However, it will take a lot of work and relationship mending to get there.
One additional point: I'm not sure if everyone realizes this but the production we see on Flo Sports and the MY 48 TV channel is entirely an Elon University production. Flo and MY 48 simply take Elon's production and stream or broadcast it. If you've watched ANY OTHER CAA school's production, you can immediately tell the difference. Elon's product is very professional. All the others range from elementary to pure crap. So here's a big shout out to the Elon production team.
