With our most current wins having been in such dominating fashion, I'll probably get booed for this post, and I probably deserve it. However, this comes under the "someone had to say it" category. Since the first half of the season, when we were arguably facing at least equally tough defenses as the second half, we have had a significant decline in yardage production and scoring. The good news is that our defense has really risen to the occasion, and has been playing entire games rather than just the second half. What prompted me to do a little analysis was yesterday against Albany, we controlled the entire game and looked like the earlier season offense in the first half. However, our total offense was 302 yards and game total 27 points.
This reminds me of a conference my mother had with one of my elementary school teachers. She said "he only does enough to get by, even though he's smart enough to do so much more". I love wins, but as a proud Elon fan, I'd love to see a blow out every now and then. In the playoffs, we're going to need our offense to be aggressive and play to our greatest potential to win those games.
First Half Team * off yards * points Vandy * 424 * 31 Woffy * 360 * 26 GWU * 484 * 30 W&M * 447 * 35 UofR * 442 * 30
Avg yards - 431 Avg points - 30.4
Second Half
Towson * 389 * 27 URI * 263 * 10 UNH * 395 * 22 UofD * 321 * 27 Albany * 302 * 27
Avg yards - 334 Avg points - 22.6
It's probably nothing to worry about though.

So much goes into both of those things though. If you're really controlling TOP then you may not have the opportunity to score as many points (against UD there were only 8 drives). If you have short fields, while you'd hope that would lead to an increase in points, it really lowers the yardage available (of 11 drives yesterday, 3 began in UA territory and 3 more at at least the -35; against Towson, 4 drives began in + territory). It's also really hard to consistently drive long fields like was needed against UNH where 4 drives began inside the 10 and another at the 11 (so 5 out of 12).

I don't disagree with any of what you said. But 3 points in the 2nd half against Albany's D just doesn't seem to be trying that hard.
