Elon travels down 85 to take on HPU on Wednesday night. The Purple Panthers are 5-1 and ranked 203 in KenPom. They are led by a number of upperclassmen and aided by the help of a couple new transfers. GG Smith is in his first full year of coaching after taking over for his father. Would be a very nice win for Billy Taylor’s group if they can sneak out a W in Elon’s first trip to the Nido Dome.

I’m watching this game on ESPN3 and what an improvement over FloSports but I’m amazed at the support and crowd that High Point has. If this game was at Elon, there might be 800-1000 fans at he game. Pay attention and learn something, Dave Blank.

Also, High Point is light years ahead of Elon as far as athleticism and coaching is concerned.

We are terrible. Arguably worst team in D1. Thanks Dave Blank and Connie.

Was in the “NiDome” tonight, just some general thoughts. Nothing too insightful here:
1) Rebounding was better tonight. Maybe the best all season. 2) Sam is getting better every game. 3) Max can be very good when he’s on. 4) Really need 5 and 14 to be more consistent if we expect to be competitive. 5) Our conditioning is so bad. Our defense is so much better the first 5 minutes of every half and then we just look absolutely gassed the rest of the half.
Overall not much more for me to say for now.
Don’t let the HPU crowd fool you, that’s not their usual attendance. But you have to give them props for putting it together. They pick 2 or 3 games a year and go all in with giveaways, raffles, free tailgating, etc. and this was one of those games .

You could take all the comments made so far and just say "ditto" for the HPU game comments. Nothing has changed, no better, no worse, (not that there is much worse). I think Taylor's giving Sherry and Mackinnon lots of PT is wise. I think Pratt needs more PT. He's averaged just over 12 minutes, (I'm not counting Erskine). I'd like to see him up around 25 or more. Since it's questionable whether we'll win another game, and Taylor has around two years of "honeymoon" left, I think it'd be wise on his part to get our future stars seasoned versus giving our more senior/less productive players "reward time".

They have HPU murals in area grocery stores, the Walmart, PTI Airport terminal, billboards in Burlington, etc., etc. Unfortunately, Elon knows very, very little about marketing.
