I noticed fbsschedules is now showing Elon at Duke on 8/31, so should be a 12 game schedule next season.
Another tough OOC schedule with Duke and NCCU the first two weekends and then back home against WCU and ETSU.
The conference schedule was announced on Jan 10 last year, so maybe this week? If the pods announced last year still apply, I'm assuming at A&T and home against Campbell. Outside of that, not sure what it will look like. Bryant will replace Delaware as well in the rotation.
Go Phoenix!

I did not realize FCS went to a 12 game slate. It has always bugged me that when FBS went to 12 about a decade ago, FCS wasn’t included. Would have liked to have seen Elon move away from the seemingly Wake-Vandy-Duke rotation. An insider told me once the payouts those three schools offfer are some of the worst in Power 5. If that’s the case, why not just schedule ECU, App, Charlotte, JMU, etc? If the payout is similar, at least we might get a competitive game, or at least a fun game day tailgate! Or on the flip side, just bite the bullet and schedule an SEC team for a monster paycheck. MTSU got $1.6 million dollars last year to play Alabama. Hopefully, our new AD will start significantly upgrading our football scheduling, which has been uninspired and dull as dishwater the last 7 or 8 seasons. Glad to see Western on the schedule however. In 2025, that should be a great away game weekend at Harrahs!

FCS can do 12 games when there are 13 Saturdays from Labor Day weekend til Thanksgiving weekend. 2025 will also allow for 12 games.
My understanding is that when it comes to the FBS opponent, after the debacle that was Carolina (and to some extent Georgia Tech), the school decided to try to often schedule a school that has a more similar approach to academics overall. That's what gives you the Wake, Duke, Vandy options. At one point, they were supposed to play BC, but that got changed when Swepson was fired.
I think there could be a good balance of FBS opponents. You don't have to go play Alabama, Clemson, or Tennessee, but a MAC, CUSA, Sun Belt team makes sense. You're not going to get the same payout as MTSU since they are FBS. UTC got $600,000 from Alabama last year.

Delaware is still in for one more year. Didn't realize they were still playing a conference schedule in football. I knew they were still around for other sports. So are they going to ramp up scholarships this coming season? Even if they aren't eligible for a conference title that would stink to have a quasi FBS team on an already tough schedule. I'm hoping with 16 teams they'll just do a north south split, but I doubt it. Go Phoenix!

STATEMENT FROM CAA COMMISSIONER JOE D’ANTONIO ON THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE’S DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE CAA AND CAA FOOTBALL CONFERENCE The CAA and the CAA Football Conference received official notification from the University of Delaware that it will be withdrawing as a member of both Conferences on June 30, 2025. Per conference bylaws the following rules will apply: Delaware will continue to compete as a member of the CAA during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons and be eligible to participate in all conference championships and NCAA championships. Delaware student-athletes and coaches will still be able to receive weekly and postseason awards. Delaware will compete in the CAA Football Conference during the 2024 season, but pursuant to NCAA bylaws will not be able to participate in the FCS playoffs as it transitions to the FBS level. Games involving Delaware will count in the CAA Football Conference standings.

So they are transitioning to 85 scholarships but can still compete equally against other 63 scholarship conference foes for a championship. I don't care if they went 12-0, they shouldn't be allowed to be conference champions.

Not only could they win the conference with that advantage, but there is a good chance any CAA team who has to play them takes another loss on their playoff resume. Hopefully they're not on our schedule. I'm good with their other sports continuing to compete for conference championships, but we shouldn't be doing them any favors in football. It's all upside for them, zero for the rest of the teams. Go Phoenix!

Pretty favorable conf schedule. Assuming Hampton and A&T will still be garbage, we have a really good chance to get to 8 wins, with 7 being possibly the floor. And if you squint a little, I perhaps even see 9-3. Those 4 home games in a row are huge!

6 home games plus A&T a hop skip and a jump away! Awesome! I'm also happy we don't have to play UD on their Good Riddance tour.
