Hard to get too excited about a win against an atrocious Hampton, one of the worst teams in the country. But considering the state of OUR squad, a win is win. The most important 4 game stretch of the season began today. We are 1-0. Campbell, A&T and Stoney Brook up next. Elon HAS to go 4-0 during this run. We do that, this season begins to take on a different feel. Anything less will feel like a disappointment.

It was hard to get excited about a win against an awful Hampton team. We could easily have lost that game. I agree we MUST have a strong showing over the next 4 games. Stony Brook isn't awful and A&T is a hard place to play. I honestly feel like we may go 2-2 during the stretch. I hope I am wrong. I know right now we need to pull out of the bottom 4 to avoid playing Day 1 of the Tourney. We all know tournament basketball that anything can happen. But winning 5 straight in that environment is virtually impossible. That is just me trying to be somewhat optimistic. I feel we have good players that are capable of knocking off anyone in the conference on any given night. I am still hopeful they can gel and figure this process out.

I understand everyone’s frustration and I share it because I really like Billy and the staff. There is talent on the roster but the execution is nonexistent at times. I was really concerned because I thought we would lose without Higgins but they found a way. I think the offense needs to go through Higgins and he needs to be the guy to put up shots. McKinnon is just not locked in and the Freshmen are playing like it.

Coach Lembo would say that at this point in the season, there are no freshmen. However, there is still some level of athletic immaturity with regard to execution. If Billy can keep this team together, we will have much more effectiveness next year, and hopefully through the end of the season. For whatever reason there seems to be less confidence in shooting now than in the beginning of the season. But having said all that, this is still the most exciting MBB team to watch since the 2013 team.

I’m a little more confident than Hoops for Life about these next 3 games. Campbell and SB are flat out mediocre, and we have them at home. And although they have played better of late, the Aggies are still below average. And their crowd support has been weak this year, that game does not scare me one bit. Couple these 3 potential wins with the Hampton W, and 4-0 makes this season (and Billy Taylor) look A LOT different

Any word on when Higgins might get back? Not seeing much media coverage of the injury.

I think the athletics dept. has a Blank hangover. There has historically been very little information regarding injuries and PT. Frankly, I don't think it's appropriate for the specifics of players' injuries to be disclosed, but I don't think there's any harm in saying "John Doe is not expected to start in tomorrow's game due to an injury sustained in practice. We hope to have him back by next week".

I have always said the most frustrating thing about being a fan of an FCS/mid-major program is the lack of media coverage. There is simply no way to get ANY info about our teams, and since Adam Smith left the T-N, we don’t even get GAME coverage and analysis anymore, much less injury updates.
