When the Conference games started I said like I do every year we are 0-0. The entire non-conference schedule in the CAA is really preseason games. A 1 bid league the only thing that really matters is where you finish in the standings. My goal for this year was we NOT finish in the last 4 of the standings to avoid playing on Friday. Yet here we are......THe only possible scenario for us not to finish in the bottom 4 is this.........We MUST beat William & Mary & Monmouth. Campbell must lose their 3 remaining games. That's it!! We may be able to win both our games. We should beat William & Mary but Monmouth could be a tough game as they have a decent team. Campbell plays Wilmington and Charleston which SHOULD be two losses. If they beat A&T at home in their final game we would have same win loss record in Conference but they beat us both games so they get the tie breaker. Only way we move out of bottom 4 is win both games and Campbell loses to Wilmington, Charleston and then to A&T at Campbell. I just don't see it happening. I hope I am wrong. This has been such a disappointing season. I try to think there is always next year. The problem is it will be the same coaching staff, most of the same players so why would anything really be any different. We exclusively play zone defense and the problem with that is we are not Syracuse. Teams pick us apart or shoot over us for the most part and we make zero adjustments. We are not going to get any more athletic next year with Brayden Crump and Trey O'Neil. If we add TK's twin brother (There has been some talk) then it will take him a year to adjust I am sure. The CAA Tournament should be wide open this year and who knows maybe Elon can have a hot shooting game or their opponent can have a really bad night shooting and we squeak out a win or two. Beyond that we shall see what happens in the off season. I am not real worried about losing players to the portal with the exception of Michaels, but he has to be the all time biggest disappointment in Elon history. Our highest recruit ever and he is not good enough to get any playing time. Best of luck to the Phoenix over the final two games and needing Campbell to drop the last three. Go Phoenix!!!
