A frustrating way to close the chapter on the regular season. Loss sucks but the complete lack of fight the team showed in the last few minutes will stick with me.

Rice and Collins are as good of a 1-2 in the league. They are both light years better than anyone we have. If we can win two games in the tourney, that will be a success. 3 wins would be a minor miracle. No way we can win 4 or 5. Impossible.

I was afraid this would happen. I said before game we could lose by 20. Elon had Nothing to play for. They were already guaranteed the 11th Seed. WInning or losing this game had no effect on them. I figured it would be hard to get up for this game. WOuld of been nice to carry the momentum of a two game winning streak into the tournament.
To be in the bottom 4 this is a best case scenario for us. We get to play the worse team in the league (Still No Guarantee Win) in 1st round. If we win we get the 6th seed - Delaware who we have beaten so we know we can do it. If we were to squeak out a couple of wins then #3 Hofstra awaits. A fresh Hofstra who will have yet to play against us on our 3rd game in 3 days. That would could be UGLY. We are in an unusual circumstance where we can go ahead and scout our next three opponents. Delaware and Hofstra do not have the luxury.
I am heading to DC for the week. I expect to win onw and would like to win at least two but I will be happy to just see them play twice.

A win this Friday versus Hampton is definitely NOT a given. Hampton beat Monmouth 64-56 two days before Monmouth DESTROYED us! If Elon goes into this game with the attitude that they're playing the worst team in the league, they'll get their a$$es kicked. I won't be in DC but will definitely be watching. Hopefully at least one win will put a positive "cherry" on a mediocre end to the regular season.

That was Monmouth's first true road win since November 10th. They did win two at the Palestra in neutral site games in the middle of November. Their first win away from home since before Thanksgiving.
Go Phoenix!
