I thought I would create a thread just for Portal news. As we all know Max Mackinnon was an early entrant into the portal. At approximately 11am this morning - LA Pratt joined him. That makes two Elon players thus far.
In other CAA Portal News of note. A couple of CAA teams have had some of their top players enter the portal. Of note is Charleston's First Team all CAA player - Ante Brzovic has entered. Drexel's Amari Williams went in a couple of weeks ago and yesterday Hofstra's, JAQUAN CARLOS entered.

2 of Charleston's top 3 players are now in the portal. Ben Burnham and Ante Brzovic are both in. Charleston would of been the hands down favorite to win the CAA again next year as they were returning most of the team that has won two straight Championships. This goes to show that in this day and time being on a super successful team (Thus winning) is not enough to keep these kids in one place. Thing is Kelsey has shown he knows how to utilize the portal and I suspect he will just reload and still be at or near the top of the standings again next year.

This is why patience is so low when coaches don't show signs of improvement right away. The portal has made it possible to win almost immediately at all levels. Even with losses, the good coaches reload immediately.
Look at what Huss was able to do at High Point in year 1. At the D2 level, Gannon was 3-23 last year and in the first year with their new coach they finished 32-3 and made the Elite 8.
Taylor needs to deliver next season. Hopefully some of the movement we've been seeing at Elon over the past week paves the way for this. I'm still not convinced though.
Go Phoenix!

May have something to do with Kelsey about to land the Louisville job. 2 of Charleston's top 3 players are now in the portal. Ben Burnham and Ante Brzovic are both in. Chris Mack hired to replace Kelsey at CofC. Certainly feels like Charleston's future doesn't include the CAA. We shall see. Go Phoenix!

Worst kept secret is that Charleston wants out. As does Northeastern. Both would be perfect fits for the A10. Don’t count out Wilmington either. They have really come on in multiple sports the last 5 -6 years. I have been a broken record for awhile on this. The CAA has really gone downhill. A&T?? Hampton?? Bryant???. Monmouth? Terrible additions. Underfunded athletics, horrible facilities, crap schools in general. Not peer schools by any stretch. What will really be interesting is what some of our football full members end up doing, namely Hofstra and and WM. They have to do something.

Bryant is not in the CAA. I don’t believe anyone is leaving the Conference in the next year or two. Certainly not Northeastern.

Bryant is joining CAA football. I should have made that distinction. The reality I laid out remains however. 100% disagree with your contention that the CAA will be stable in the next 2 years. Charleston will be gone, 100%. Northeastern is looking. Although speculation, UNCW would be a candidate in several conferences, including the SoCon. WM would I’m sure love to jump if they could remain in CAA football. Things will continue to change.

Great news. I thought we had the inside track & was wondering what the hold-up was. May have had something to do with LA? Anyway, I think he'll make immediate impact.

Go Phoenix!

A lot of people said he left because he wanted to play for a winning team. Portland no better than us seeing how they finished 12-21 last season. So I guess that was not why he went there. We may be better without him assuming we can land a good portal player. Max was among the top in the CAA in turnovers. I won't miss that part of his game.

Being fair, the WCC is a slightly better conference than the CAA. However, losing is losing. Max will really have to up his ball handling to make a splash. I do wish him all the best & hope he's successful.
This could have been a NIL situation.
