Former Elon Baseball Standout Earns Promotion to AA
Paul Bennett Advances Within the Atlanta Braves System

PEARL, Miss. -- Former Elon baseball player Paul Bennett recently earned a promotion to play for the AA Mississippi Braves after spending the earlier part of the season with the A Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Bennett was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Atlanta Braves organization following his 2006 senior campaign with the Phoenix during which Bennett helped the squad to a school-record 45 victories and an NCAA Regional appearance.
Bennett batted .225 with 20 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 59 games with the Pelicans prior to his promotion. He had hit nine doubles, a triple and one homer for Myrtle Beach.
So far, Bennett has appeared in two games with the Braves, going 0-for-4 with a walk.
After winning the Southern League's South Division in the first half, the Mississippi Braves have gone 15-35 in the second half of the season.
