This is the link to the first story in a series in the NY Times about athletic scholarships in DI and DII. It's pretty interesting — definitely an eye-opening experience that these kids are not getting a free ride. The average scholarship is about $10,400. There's also a chart looking at the average scholarship per sport which varies pretty widely depending on the number of players on a team and how many scholarships are allowed. (For example, the average men's basketball scholarship is $16,698 while baseball is $5,806.) I would highly recommend looking through the whole package if you have time. www.nytimes.com/2008/03/10/sports/10scholarships.html?ref=sports

Starting next year baseball scholarship athletes will have to receive at least 25% of a full ride.
