CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Elon track and field team notched a fifth-place at the Southern Conference Championship held on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. The fifth-place finish equals a program-best as the team also finished fifth in 2006. Elon also had two individual all-conference performances and one relay all-conference performance.
"This was an all out team effort. Our goal was to improve upon last year's sixth-place finish," coach Mark Elliston said. "At one point, we sat as high as fourth in the standings. The future of this program looks very promising and the excitement is really starting to build."
Jennine Strange, Andrea March, and the 4x400 meter relay team that was made up of March, Strange, Melissa Turowski, and Sarah Skogen, all took home all-conference honors.
