The first of two matches to be held in Rhodes Stadium will take place on Oct. 1 as defending national champ Wake Forest comes to town for a 7 p.m. start. After making SoCon visits to Georgia Southern (Oct. 4) and Appalachian State (Oct. 7), Elon comes home to tackle College of Charleston on Oct. 11 in a league match.
A trip to Davidson follows on Oct. 15 before Elon hosts its annual match to benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research on Oct. 21 at Rhodes Stadium. The 7 p.m. game will see the Phoenix play host to the Duke Blue Devils, a 2007 College Cup squad. This will be the fifth consecutive season that Elon has hosted a match as a fundraiser for The V Foundation.

I understand the crowd issue, but just think how crazy Rudd would be with 750 - 1000 fans around it. Plus what most people don't realize is it's a disadvantage to our players. They only get to practice on Rhodes once before the game. they are much more familiar with Rudd.

The Carolina game last year had almost 1800 people. You couldn't do that at Rudd.

You would have no sightlines for a few hundred people and you would miss a key opportunity to grab some cash. Besides, if you want to get these teams to come back, you can't having ACC teams playing in Rudd. They don't come because we play in Rudd. I can understand UNCG being played at Rudd, but not an ACC team.

It's not necessarily about the cash fro soccer. And knowing Coach Powell's contacts it wouldn't matter if Elon played them at the Firehouse fields.
Of course all of this would be moot if we could build a small stadium around Rudd. Any willing to pony up the cash?
