Several of our transfers have had immediate impact, but I imagine there have been others who were not as visible or turned out not to be such great fits with our program(s). I guess my thoughts would be, based on a year or more experience at collegiate level, our coaches must feel [transfers] would be an asset to our program. Team chemistry is always "yet to be seen" as to how much impact any player may or may not have.

I never think that transfers are a savior to any team, but much can be said about teams like App from last season. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Armanti Edwards a transfer from WCU? I am pretty sure Edwards was a true freshman last season. In fact he was scheduled to visit Elon on an official visit but cancelled at the last minute - probably to accept Ap's offer.

I read somewhere that Edwards was a WCU recruit, went to WCU and was cut. He had to jump through some hurdles to get out the signing with WCU and went to ASU. Apparently there was a big fight about it and didn't lose any years of eligibilty, hence, being a true freshman at ASU. I think I read this either on Catamount Pride or anygivensaturday.com.

Some tard wrote this on an NCSU message board, it is completely false. Edwards was a true, 18 year old freshman last year. Check out his bio on Rivals or Scout. Listed as HS class of 2006, commitment to ASU. Google it.

Sorry for posting the mis-info. I probably should've had the BS detector up!

Other than USF does ELON play any other 1A teams this year?
Just curious,
When was the last time the ELON football team upset or came close to upsetting a D1A team?
Good luck with the season.

As far as I know, Elon has never played a DI team. We don't have anybody else on our schedule this year as far as DI goes, but we are playing one team for the next couple of years. Looking forward to playing USF.
On a personal note, I hope to be able to go to the game, but I'm not sure that I can.

Last time Elon came close was this morning when I was playing NCAA 2005, In the real world this is our first D1A game. Thats why were so into it. Were all hoping for a win, but in reality using this game as more of a mesurement of where our team is at this point in time.

I remember beating USF in '97 at Burlington Memorial Stadium (a HS stadium) in their first year. My how things have changed. Circumstances couldn't be more different 10 years later. I'd just love to be in it at the half.
Go Phoenix!

LOL I'm going to assume you are joking and referencing that rediculous idiot on the NCSU board. That was hilarious! For the record (in case anyone doesn't know), Armanti was a true freshman last year and played HS ball in Greenwood, SC in 2005.

Actually, I didn't see it on the NCSU board. In fact, I've never visited the board. I'm pretty sure I read it on the WCU board.

I believe that an ASU fan saw it on the NCSU Rivals board and posted it in one or two places. I know it was posted on the MMB, it wouldn't surprise me if it made it to the WCU board.

Whatever! What is so impressive is that a true frosh can play like that. App's got a great line and great support players but Armanti makes it happen. I haven't read the stats. He looks to be pretty tall, but he is slight. He must not weigh more than 185 or so. He really knows how to make the defense miss.

Armanti is a great athlete, he is definitely "slight" in build. (That's a very polite way of putting it). He's 6' tall, but last year he weighed only about 165 lbs. From what I've heard, he has gained 15 or 20 lbs without sacrificing any mobility at all. Of course, one of our biggest fears (for App fans) is that he'll get injurred because he doesn't seem to have any fear at all.
Just remember that last year at this time, Armanti was not even on the depth chart for App. Trey Elder was the SoCon preseason selection for all conference QB. It just goes to show you that we can analyze things to death, but it doesn't count until it happens on the field.
Good luck this year. Greg
