please share any positive thoughts you might have, I feel like the crowd yesterday We so need a whole revamp and I hate the present leadership has waited to do the whole shake down, We really have to get fundamentally better in almost every area. I do hope We can make some positive reversals

Defense is more than adequate. Relatively young O line should be more solid next year. Can't imagine the injury onslaught will be this bad next year. Recruiting focusing on offense.

The D and special teams are playing hard, the offense has faced too much adversity via injuries it seems.
The positive? The team has lost 5 games against better competition by 10 points or less.
We have been in winnable games, but just can't get over the hump.
The team should be in a much better position next year when Skrosky has a year under his belt.

i agree with elon pride, we have been outmatched every week, but somehow are able to scrap together drives and produce opportunities for ourselves...the anytime you get out gained by 200 yards on offense and only lose by 7 points, you have to credit coaching...the future is bright!

We looked a lot better against W&M, but looked listless again against a much worse defense with Maine. The D has been solid since the beginning of the year. The special teams, especially the return teams have gotten better and better. The O has been inconsistent at best. The D was on the field OVER 40 MINUTES OF THE GAME against Maine. You simply can not win when the O only has possession for less than one third of the game.

This is what concerns me... we have basically two OC on this team. One is the head coach, the other is the OC that holds the OC position title. That's two people who should be able to come up with something that should put together something. Heck, put in 5 receivers and just lob it, it would be better than what we've seen.
I don't care how good you guys think the D is. They are adequate, nothing special. What they're doing should be enough to win a game. But, let's be honest, giving up 400-500 yards in games is not the mark of a good D.
Also, we have missed nearly half the FGs we've tried this year. Hard to say we have a good ST when they are inadequate scoring.
The truth is, the team sucks. There is no other way to spin it. We are completely outmanned in every part of the game and the fans through the swepson years and now this, you can see, they've lost hope and don't care now.

If you let the D stay on the sideline a little more, by having even a moderately effective O, the yards allowed would drop considerably. In spite of an O that seemed to do nothing but put pressure on the D, I'd say the D was indeed more than adequate. I would say "the team sucks" is a fair statement. Just look at the record. But I would also say there is plenty about which to be upbeat. As for losing the fans, there's always the chance to win them back. Put an exciting product on the field and get some wins (and ranking), and the stadium will be packed week in and week out.

The D was on the field for 40 minutes during the last game. I think it's fair to say it's more than adequate to hold a team to 24 points when they have the ball for approximately 70% of the game.

But Maine isn't exactly a stellar program this year.

stellar enough to beat Richmond the week before...the CAA is a much better league, Maine would be contending for a SoCon championship, easily.

When an offense only keeps possession of the ball for 19 minutes, that puts an enormous amount of pressure on the defense. And clearly the offense took a major step back against Maine.

I think part of the problem is that some fans/alumni/boosters think Skrosky is the man to turn it around. Why not, He was the OC at Elon during the turn around and Ball State as well. He knows how to get it done.. Right? Here's the problem. His offense is geared toward a ball controlled passing game that works well when you have an accurate QB who makes quick reads and has enough physical ability to take off and run when necessary. Think of the two QBS he had. Riddle... Probably the best Elon has had and at least got a free agent contract with the NFL Jaguars and Keith Wenning who was drafted. With out those guys Elon and Ball State are much worse. By the Way. Ball State is Back to 3-7 right now. Is that because Skrosky left? NO it's because Wenning is gone. The truth is his offensive scheme sucks. OL works out of two pt stance which is clearly a disadvantage to run blocking. Very few power run plays/pin and pull. No counter action. Mostly it's just zone read crap that doesn't work because Quinn will never keep it. Play action is a joke because we can't run the ball. Think of the time it looked it's best. It was against William and Mary because we ran the ball better. The chuck and dunk offense is good for teams that are out manned at most positions but it can't be at quarterback. Without a top level quarterback, Skrosky will not get it done.
