Ok good suggestion, let's start a new thread for Richmond. First question, who should be our QB?
Let me start by saying that I don't think either QB has played very well thus far. Which is concerning given they are both RS recruits playing in RS's system. and CC is in his second year, and DT has been here all Spring and Summer, but I digress.
It would nice if each poster would give their vote, and then opine. My vote is for DT. He had the picks I know, but with him at least he showed potential vs UNH. CC showed no potential at all last week and very little potential in previous games in which our wins were attributable to our strong defense.
Now let's talk statistics for a minute. Homer, who seems to be a big CC fan, has quoted several stats in support of CC. A good spinster can tell just about any story with statistics. Ok it may be true that CC's completion percentage is higher, and if you just look at that statistic he would be better. But, if he is throwing mostly bubble screens / 2-3 yard outs, who cares! He is accurate with those passes but that should be table stakes for a D1 QB. He has struggled through 5 games with finding WR's open downfield and getting the ball to them. Whereas DT at least some potential in that area which is what we need to get a running game going.
DT is not great either as I said. But I think thus far he is less bad than CC.

CC is a gamer and he did pull through on the 3 OT game however, with DT leading the way last week, the offense put up over 300 yards and had 3 good drives against a really good defense. DT also averaged 6.0 yards per attempt and 11.7 yards per completion and while our running game was not good, we did have the best yards per rush for the season, thus far, at 2.9. So if we are looking at offensive production, then the nod has to go to DT.

How in God's name do you ignore 4 picks in 3 quarters?
Just wondering.
As for the yardage,it was mostly against UNH backups when the game was put away.
As for who should start, coin flip.

Actually, the 75 yard touchdown drive and the 31 yard drive that set up the missed field goal before halftime was against the UNH starters. And I would have to watch the game again but I am not convinced that the first few drives of the second half which totaled over a 100 yards and a touchdown was against UNH backups. I don't think anyone is ignoring the 4 picks however our receivers have to win the 50/50 balls.

Good idea. Watch the game again. You'll see the play calling was completely changed when DT went in the second time. The run was ditched. As it should have been from the get-go. And if you're going to place blame on the receivers, you'll see plenty more to place with CC in there, including his pick.
Look, enough of this pissing match. DT is a good QB and a very good young man. I have absolutely nothing against him. Nothing. I'm merely trying to point out that you simply cannot say because a guy orchestrated a 75 yd drive and threw 4 picks he earns a starting spot. You just can't.
And I fully expect to see DT start Saturday. After all, CC was seen on campus with his throwing hand bandaged. Hmm.

The Richmond game marks the transition into the 2nd half of our season. At this point, I think we should be able to look back to game 1 and expect to see some progress. Regardless of which QB starts, here are some things I personally will be looking for: 1. Receiver play making. Not trying to disparage our receivers, but up to this point this group has been a bit disappointing to me. Tereak McCray has been one bright spot so far. Sometimes receivers have to run a little faster, catch passes off their back shoulder, within a foot of the turf or with DB's hands in their faces. It's called making plays. 2. Better OL run blocking. We've got to be able to expect a minimum of 3.5 to 4 yards per rush. And no, I don't mean average yardage. 3. Better RB technique. In my opinion, there is no excuse for a shoe string tackle within 2 yards on either side of the line of scrimmage. 4. Overall, I think we should expect to see a minimum of 13-14 non-penalty first downs per game and a minimum of 325-350 total offensive yards.
I'm not going to discuss the QB situation at this point. That horse has been long dead and beaten.
The defense has performed admirably so far this season, IMO. The one area I would like to see is stopping the run. We do a decent job in pass rushing and containment of big passing plays. But, a solid running back or read option QB can give us fits.
I'm hoping for a win against UR, but if not a win, I still expect to see progress.

Great thoughts "fightin" and makes sense.
The past is in the rearview mirror and it is time for this team to show vast improvement on offense.
It begins with the running game and offensive line. The OL needs to open holes and get to the opposing linebackers. Once that happens consistently (not every play) this offense will begin to gel. If not the opposing secondary will sit back and make plays.
Really need to come out hitting on all cylinders versus Richmond. Another start simialr to UNH will send a strong message that Skrosky can not get this team ready to compete. I dont really care if we start all freshman or all seniors. We need to be competitive against very good teams.

I believe that this is original depth chart.
Word is DT is starting and took all first team snaps this week.

I think DT will be able to move the ball a little better from the outset. Don't get me wrong though, I think CC is a baller. He's lead the team to 2 wins, and from what I read, he seems to be a great kid!

I dont really care if we start all freshman or all seniors. We need to be competitive against very good teams. Lembo's philosophy was that by the mid season, there is no such thing as inexperience. While I think that's a little overstated, I do think that starters are starters. So whether they're frosh or seniors, they need to perform like starting position players at whichever level they play, in our case D1 FCS. I'm not expecting a Frosh to have the experience level of a senior, and I'm not completely expecting a win versus the ranked teams we play, but I do expect them to be competitive in every game we play. 5 games is enough to overcome "first time jitters".
