Normally in this situation with an offense sputtering as bad as we have for the past years I would say it's time for a new OC. But when your OC doesn't do the play calling and the head coach does.... What do you do? Do you want to go through another head coaching fire and hiring? I know some of you will say yes which I can't argue with.
I know we didn't bring in a QB this last class and obviously missed on DT. Christiansen was a D3 QB that we got in the one month the new stuff had to recruit. And not like there was much in the way of talent when the new staff got here. Dont try to tell me Quinn or Loughery. So our QB situation has been awful the last 5 years.
The one bright spot are the freshman this year. On that note I saw Bridges, Moore and Willoughby did not play yesterday. Suspended a game for team rules or something like that.
How about a running game? I know when you can throw you can out 7-8 in the box and play man on the outside. But come on.

Need a transfer QB or 2.
Think about it. Even if the newest commit is really good, it will be 2+ seasons until we realize any success. That's 2019!!!!!
When you rely on teams throwing games away via turnovers that's a problem.

Clearly it would be wise to get a scholarship QB every year. Yes, every other year one will transfer out because he sees the writing on the wall. Even that is easier said than done.
Obviously, DT's play has been a huge disappointment. But, to throw CC under that same bus is a little premature. He only played a half this year.
I still don't understand the receiver situation. Lots of drops. Those we saw a year or two ago and thought they were going to be great have simply vanished. Strange.

When Richmond went up 13-0 in the 2nd half and Elon's first drive out of the locker room is to run it up the middle 3 times, we left. I am not normally that type of fan, especially in a game that's technically still within reach, but my god what a way to kick your home fan base in the nuts coming out of halftime. It's just awful football to watch no matter the reason.
I think the offense has scored one offensive TD in the past 3 games and that was late in garbage time in a blow out. 10 offensive pts total. That's simply inexcusable. A lot of good points about the O line and running game really starting to take shape, but no ability to mix it up because we have no QB.
Go Phoenix!

Don't disagree on CC but he did readily admit his shoulder wasn't right in HS, fought off a number of injuries. To believe that he will be FCS caliber qb after his surgery is a bit optimistic. Wish the young man nothing but the best.
Skrosky needs to go out and get a transfer. You can't skinny down a playbook to the point that he has and expect to win.

To get a transfer one needs to be available and willing to play for us.... hard to do really. If it's really 2019 if we recruit a quarterback now, skrosky will be fired by then. We're already losing long time patient fans to leaving early,

I don't understand why RS doesn't go to the next qb in line. It's extremely painful watching this O. I don't care if they are walk ons or from another planet, can't get any worse than where we are.

Getting a transfer QB is easier said than done. We've had a couple of transfer QBs that really looked good on paper but fizzled recently. Tyler Smith, a transfer from Maryland was the QB of the year in his home state and when he was recruited to Maryland he was ranked as the 8th best QB in the nation. I think he played maybe 5 or 6 series here. Then there was the 6'6" guy who's name I don't remember - he was coached by his dad at a JUCO. He never played a down here. They tried to make him a receiver which didn't work either. He finished his career at a D3 I think somewhere up north. Transfers/JUCOs need to be recruited just like any other player. Otherwise you wind up with just another empty hole in which you pour good money.

OK, this is my last rant with regard to yesterday's game. Yesterday was a beautiful day, cloudless, bright sun, 64 degrees at game time, light breeze. The Athletics Department put together an unreal set of activities and tailgates. There were numerous alumni groups with reunion celebrations. There was even a Ferris wheel over by the soccer stadium. In short, a perfect day to see football. NOT ONE ACC game was played in the state of North Carolina. App was the ONLY D1 team of consequence playing football in the ENTIRE STATE other than Elon. Even A&T and NCCU were playing out of state. So, one would expect to see a record crowd at the Elon HOMECOMING GAME, right? Nope. Attendance was listed as 8,178. I'm not sure we have had a homecoming game with attendance that poor since Rhodes Stadium was constructed, unless it was raining. I'll bet there weren't 817.8 Elon fans there by the middle of third quarter.
I used to read here that the student body was apathetic with regard to football and that the University put so many restrictions on student tailgating that it just wasn't any fun. While these things may be true, I personally feel that the product has declined so dramatically since 2010, that ordinarily die hard Elon fans just can't stand the thought of watching what the program has become. It just isn't any fun to go watch something you care about produce so poorly.
I will never abandon the team. If they play with one fan in the stadium, I will be that fan. BUT, right now I am not happy watching my team & program perform so poorly.

I echo some of the comments above. Amazing weather. Great setup outside the stadium, etc. In the end, the product on the field has to matter. It must be compelling. Right now, and basically since the '11 season it has been garbage. That's two whole cycles of Elon students who have not seen a competitive team. We've been garbage.
I was told a number of times this weekend, we are close...things are changing. Right now, we have not seen progress. The only thing we're good at is making flashy videos.
I am at a loss for what needs to change. I just don't know.

7 games & 4 offensive touchdowns in non garbage time.
Think about that & how "close" we really are.
I hear the commentary on the transfers but these kids want to play. Every FBS school has 3 to 4 scholarship QBs, only one play.
Direct some of the funds around an all out recruting effort and pick 2 of these QBs up. Can't get any worse.
What's success the last 4 games? 2-2? 3-1? Best case we go 5-6 with a garbage win over a D2.

Sorry, not counting that D2 win it's actually better. 4TDs in 6 games.

So how's this. I can come up with one good thing to say about every coach from Segraves to now. Multiple things for most. With Skrosky, other than being likeable, what is there?
Seagraves - Wishbone confused teams in DI for r season's and helped us beat Western as a D-II
PHam - knew how to recruit transfers and moved Chad Jiang to Linebacker. Recruited Terrell Hudgins.
Lembo got an alumni's son that could have been in DVD to come here. Got us competitive, nationally ranked and in the playoffs.
Swepson, for all the weakness as a head coach molded Aaron Mellette and some really good tight ends
Worldly?

Please don't forget Richmond is the #6 team in the country.
