Please don't forget Richmond is the #6 team in the country. Homer, I appreciate your positive energy and attitude towards the team. And yes, Richmond is a good team this year. And yet, please don't forget, this is Richmond we are talking about. An FCS team. In our conference. This is not Alabama we just lost to. And so to me, we are justified in our disappointment and outrage on what RS is putting on the field. It's not that we lost to Richmond, it's how we lost. RS sticks with DT even though he has demonstrated over and over he cannot compete at this level. If you don't buy into this, just roll the game tape, watch our first offensive play, and stop tape. That's all you need to see. And RS keeps calling the same few plays over and over again even though they are not working. And why run the read option play over and over again if the QB never keeps the ball even though the outside is open almost every play? As another poster said just line up in an I and pound it. RS needs to make some changes, starting with the QB. I can only imagine how upset the actual players are with what's going on. And while I'm at it (venting here I apologize), there is another thread on recruiting - how is any recruit going to be interested in signing up for Elon Football after witnessing the horrible offensive product we are putting on the field.

Elonfan,
Everything you say is completely acceptable.
DT has proven to be, um, horrific. There's a reason why he wasn't the starter. It's tragic that CC was lost for the year. I know some here argue he wasn't the answer. Hard to make that statement after only two quarters.
Is time to give Connor Hughes a shot? Probably. It would be interesting to see.
Offensive philosophy is a question that needs to be answered. We have a very good O line and above average RBs. Why not let that be the focal point of the offense? That means getting out of the shot gun, for starters. The passing game is anything but vertical. I think some of the problem is the receiving corps. Yes, DT has trouble hitting the receiver, but when he does, we often have drops. And I question whether our guys get open very often.
The solution? I think we bring in a dedicated Offensive Coordinator and let him do some work. I still think RS is the right guy for Elon. But something needs to be done to fix the O.

I'd love to see Hughes get a shake at the starting position.

He can't be any worse. If he is worse, that's a bit of a story.

I'd love to see Hughes get a shake at the starting position. Either Hughes or Harrell, watched Harrell in warmups on Saturday and he seems to throw it the best out of all of them, but a true freshman. Maybe its time to switch to him, or anyone else- we need change fast. The offense cannot continue to put up performances like this.

Say CC is done? Do you risk dumping DR, probably having him transfer, when you have no other option?

Transfer? Worrying about a transfer is a joke. We can't be any worse.

I've watched him for two years, spring ball, summer camp and two quarters. I'm not new to college football. I know what I'm seeing. Would I prefer CC to DT? Yeah probably, but I still feel we need better.
