pop up elon wins 11-9 in the 10th That game almost gave me a heart attack, but we pulled it out. If our pitching holds i think we have a shot at winning.we just have to get to wofford. But id rather play wofford twice then play Cit twice. GG GL boys tomorrow PS Great job porter on the win you ran out of gas and kept going. I commend you and your pitching

Alright guys, I'm taking a small vacation down to the Outer Banks now.......yes I like to travel on the roads at 3:30am!!!!
Cheer extra hard for one Elon fan that may not be able to follow the game(s)!

Please bear with me. I've been attending every SoCon Tournament game since they started last Tuesday. I'm tired.
But the vandalism incident I described occurred after the Elon/Citadel game in the early hours of Friday MAY 25. You know, that's the game where Second Baseman Brian Altman hit a FAIR Ball grand slam to win for the Bulldogs.
As to tournament location, if it ain't broke don't fix it, that was in the Charleston paper. Don't you remember, the biggest mistake the SoCon ever made was holding the basketball tournament in North Carolina the week before the ACC show.
And, yes. I remember the Elon / Citadel regular season series last March. That's the one where the home cooking ump warned the Elon dugout about unsportsman like behavior.

Bulldog, you are out of line. I went to Citadel's website and noticed you posted this same nonsense over there. I'm sorry your car got keyed, but I think you are the one who is showing immaturity. You come in here guns ablazing accusing us of keying your car. I can promise you that I am not at the tournament and firefighter is not at the tournament. Everyone at Elon agrees that we had every opportunity to win the game whether that home run was fair or foul. I also noticed you were the only one on the Bulldog website who said it was fair, no doubt about it. People who were sitting closer to the pole than you were said it was foul. Since you attended every tourney game, how do you know it didnt happen during one of the other games? For that matter, how do you know it happened after the home run, not before? I dont know how many of our fans are down there, but I dont think anybody making a 6 hour drive would be immature enough to do that to someones car.
Sir, you are out of line.

Bulldog, your making an accusation that is way out of line with no supporting facts.
Sorry to hear that this happened to you. I seriously doubt anyone from Elon would have done that based on the outcome of a game. Get some class wil you.... This has to be the most ridiculous post ever on this board.
On to a much more important note. Great job by the Phoenix! Let's take this thing.

Bulldog.....on the second day of the tournament, 99% of the Elon fans at the ballpark are parents, their girlfriends, and really close friends. If they are wearing Elon stuff, more than likely they know each other. Knowing them, I don't think they would stoop to that low. I don't care if you believe it, but coming on here and accusing somebody on our end of doing this (and maybe accusing one of us) disgrace YOUR FAN BASE (which is a fan base I have a multitude of respect for) and this great conference (its still great no matter what App says). I bet you that would accuse me of doing that if you wanted to. Thats discrimination. Don't try to justify it. Nothing happens because somebody is a fan of a certain team.
Do you ever stop to think what part you'd be in if you drove 1 mile away from the ballpark just past Johnson Hagood Stadium. "I know Charleston, I LIVE THERE!" I can imagine you saying that. The first two miles of 17 once 26 ends is NOT the best part of town I would think. Thats near the ballpark. Ever put that together? Riley Park is not far away from a dangerous part of town.
Stop blaming us! I'm sorry that your car got keyed and I hope those people come to justice, but if you keep this up, quite frankly, you don't deserve justice if your just going to accuse somebody based on the fact of a controversial home run. Who do you think we are?
I REFUSE TO BEAR WITH YOU IF YOU ARE GOING TO THROW OUT SUCH WILD ACCUSATIONS.

Bulldog, i feel for you an your situation but you are making strong accusations. You also vent on on stuff unrelated to that incident which makes me wonder if it even happened at all. to counter your argument 1) As for the HR My radio guy/roommate/good friend, talked to many cit fans who were unsure of its fair or foul. This is a true sports guy and if i ask him for an unbiased decision he will give me one. AS for my opinion I was not there, but from what i hear I disagree with the call. But if you read my previous posts you will see that I stated we had every opportunity to win that game in the 8th AFTER THAT HR. so while i disagree with it I'm not saying it cost us the game 2If it ain't broke dont fix it. Who have you talked to? Almost all of the conf wants it out of Charleston. except cit and CoC. No one likes it there. Too windy, edge of the conf parameters, there too long. Other schools want a shot at hosting. Plus it gives cit an unfair advantage. Look at how many times they've made it to the final game. You cant tell me that home team advantage didn't play a role in a few of those times. Finally as I posted before the Charleston news paper is writing about it being moved all our info is coming from your town, there not rumors there not angry wishes its FACT. If this is your way of trying to rub in a cheep win the other day GO GET SOME CLASS. Ive run this board for a short time but Ive been posting for a few years and i have to say this is one of the most unclassy posts Ive seen. this tops Coastal Carolina's posters in the elevator at the big south tourney. I was with you on your first post, i apologized for the situation, even though i doubt an elon fan did it on your board. I held back my accusation that it could of been any number of teams since EVERYONE WAS ROOTING FOR US TO WIN. if you going to be this way get some creditability before you do. you first post here and first on cits site is this junk, all i do is write it off as a uninformed fan. I bid you good day and good luck today, because even though I dislike Cit come tourney time, I have 1 thing you dont CLASS. that is why i stand up for all elon fans and say I doubt any of us did this.

Elon's run cut short by Citadel Bob Sutton / Times-News May 27, 2007 3:00 AM
CHARLESTON, S.C. — As it turned out, it was too good to be true.
Elon University, finally playing the type of baseball it sought for weeks, couldn’t capitalize on a Southern Conference Tournament field depleted by upsets and fell victim to the same fate Saturday afternoon.
“I felt like we couldn’t play any better than we did,” second baseman Chase Austin said after a 5-2 loss to The Citadel in an elimination game. “We were sitting pretty. If you ask any one of us, it was setting up for us to win.”
Third-seeded Elon (32-29), the top remaining seed in the tournament since late Thursday afternoon, was positioned to make a run at an NCAA Tournament berth for the second year in a row.
Instead, the season ended with one of those “what-if” feelings at Riley Park.
“We took the year off and then played our best baseball the last four days,” coach Mike Kennedy said, noting the season’s inconsistency. “It was a fun week. Obviously, you feel better. We just told our guys, and we hope the young guys realize this, that’s the level of play we expected all year long.”
For a group of seniors instrumental in last year’s regular-season championship, the end was difficult nonetheless. Right fielder Ryan Addison, a junior college transfer, said he recalled a postgame interview session after last year’s final game in the NCAA Tournament when he wondered what the seniors must be going through.
“Now you’re thinking, ‘Did I fulfill those promises I made?’ ” Addison said. “I’ve only been here two years and it’s tough. It makes you think about (fifth-year guys) Drew (Davis) and Kevin (Pratt). … We definitely played our best ball (this week) and then it just didn’t fall for us.”
The Phoenix bowed out in the same round of the conference tournament last year against Citadel, which plays the tournament on its home field. Elon, which lost 6-5 to the Bulldogs in Thursday night’s controversial game, has never been to a final in a Division I conference tournament.
Yet there was a sense that something had been achieved during a season that often needed more traction.
“Coach talked all year about leaving a footprint,” said Addison, who had a total of six hits in the last two games. “And hopefully we left a footprint.”
But not enough of those Phoenix footprints touched home plate.
Elon trailed 5-0 before some hard hit balls started paying off against Wes Wrenn, who was making his second start in the tournament and 17th of the year.
Chris Dove’s two-out line drive with the bases loaded in the seventh might have scored three runs because the Phoenix were moving on the base paths for the full-count pitch. But Citadel second baseman Bryan Altman leaped and snared the ball, ending the threat.
“And the momentum that would have gone with that,” Kennedy said.
Wrenn (6-6), a right-hander, was done after Adam Weaver and Jordy Snyder started the bottom of the eighth with hits. Pat Irvine and Davis followed with RBI groundouts.
Elon hit seven line drives in the first four innings, but only one of those resulted in a hit (Addison’s double) — and two of them were turned into double plays.
“We played well,” said Kennedy, whose team was denied its first three-game winning streak since early April. “We hit some balls right at them.”
Dove’s diving catch in center field off Kyle Jordan’s liner to end the third inning prevented further damage to the Phoenix, which trailed 4-0.
The Bulldogs scored four runs off Elon starter Ryan Basham (2-2) in 2 2/3 innings. They were quiet until Daniel Britt was charged with a seventh-inning run when J.D. Reichenbach walked Matt Arnold with the bases loaded to push the margin to 5-0.
Seventh-place Citadel (34-26) and Wofford, which tied for last place during the regular season, went on to meet in Saturday night’s final.
Before losing twice in three days to the Bulldogs, Elon won two of three against Citadel here in March.
