I know it's really early to be talking baseball, but I saw that Elon will be opening the season down in Myrtle Beach in a tourney with Coastal, Kenctucky and K State. Not a bad slate of teams.
Also noticed the roster has been updated and a lot of new jucos listed. Looks like Kennedy is trying to really retool this year. A lot of talented guys returning too.
Go Phoenix!

Didn't know about the Louisville series or the tourney at home to open the season.
This may be the toughest schedule they've had.
Go Phoenix!

Where did all that scheduling info come from hihard? I have been waiting to see an official release but I think we are still a little ways from that. Non-conference with L'ville and that weekend tourney at Coastal are both good to hear about and we almost always have a lot of solid midweek games with in-state competition such as UNC, NC State, ECU.
I think we should be solid on the mound for sure with a lot of really good arms coming back. We were a pretty young team and didnt really lose that much from last year in general and hopefully the JUCO additions can contribute at the plate. I think some of the other good SoCon teams from last year could be down - App, GSU and CofC all lost a lot from their teams last year I believe, though CofC tends to just reload.

No secret intel source, I have friends all over college baseball. Some games came from them, others from posted schedules and took for granted we would play the Carolina schools.
But I have heard from some baseball people that The Phoenix have added some quality players that should see lots of time. Put them with the Returning Pitching, Swim, Kinsella, Gomez and the Sophs that got a lot of time last year...if they stay healthy and Play as a TEAM...Coach Kennedy will have a Good one on his hands.
From surveying Summer league reports and other scorces, Elon's Pitching should be very strong. Once the rotation is set there should be no weak links Starting or Bullpen
Elon should be picked 1 or 2 SoCon preseason? Samford, GSU and The College (not rocket science) at the top.

Collegiate Baseball gets a lot of draftees but they get their experience so they can get drafted in JuCo but We have to really beat the bushes and our assistants comb the landscape and have a great gift in talent evaluation.

Would have been nice to see Fall Series game recaps on the website...? A little Fall lead-up, hype and excitement not only for fans, but for those HS players considering Elon
Just sayin....

We see lots of info on other sports but the sport that performs the best, seems to also be our best kept secret. There are hundreds of baseball players in Alamance County as well. More than any other sport with the possible exception of soccer. This could be capitalized upon. Bring in 1 kid and he brings at least 1 parent and probably a friend or two. Elon does a pretty good job with this immediately pre season, but it needs to start earlier & carry through the playoffs.

One question for those in the know. I understand that the NCAA allows 11.7 full scholarships for D1 baseball. (A little rediculous for a 35 man roster, but I digress). Are all of these scholarships funded at Elon?

Baseball is fully funded. I believe that it happened two years ago. If we can ever get our male student enrollment up, we can men's lacrosse to the mix. That would be another sport we can be competitive early in.
Baseball now has a more even playing field now that you must give a minimum amount of money to all scholarship kids.

I don't have a problem with basketball getting 12 scholarships for a 15 player roster - 80% I don't even have a problem with FCS football getting 63 scholarships for a 100 player roster - 63% I really have a problem with baseball getting 11.7scholarships for a 35 player roster - 33%
When you consider that App, as an example, has walk on players that pay the same tuition as one of our players that has a 77.5% scholarship, it really makes you appreciate what Kennedy has done over the years to make this program a consistent winner.

Elon Baseball is fully funded at the NCAA limit of 11.7 Scholly's for the last 2 or 3 years. NCAA D-1 rules:35 Man Roster 11.7 Scholarships Minimum Scholarship 25% Scholarship Player Max - 27 True Academic money is not "counted" toward the 11.7 Website Information and Hype Unlimited
