About a day and a half to game time, and I'm getting excited. This is probably the most ive been looking forward to a game this season. Looks like coach has been working on fixing our mistakes and has been trying to get us ready to compete against A&T's band. Wonder if we will bring our Band like we have in past. At least with A&T's win over app last week, our players will not be looking over them to our game with App There's a lot on the line here for both squads, along with bragging rights for those who have ties to the opposition. T wants to prove the App win wasn't a fluke, and go 2-0 against the SoCon, and Elon just needs a big win. I hate that our schedule went from up a division, to down a division. It just doens't give one a good barometer. At least last year, we had a decent game against NCCU sandwiched in between. I'm excited about this one too, and it sounds like there will also be a good number of Elon fans on hand. For those going, be loud and get in a good "EU you know" for ole EP!

Unless Elon can find a way to get more fans to come to Greensboro, I don't see this series being renewed after 2016.
If A&T brings 7,000 or more fans to Rhodes Stadium next season, folks here are going start saying the partnership is one-sided.
This year the local media actually did their part to drum up a pretty good buzz but the Elon supporters still didn't come out to Aggie Stadium in decent numbers.

bornthrilla, you sound like an App fan. Can it. I saw the pictures of Boone last week, you took, what, 500 there?
Added to that, there were at least 2000 or more quiet Elon fans there. Like I said, the last Elon/A&T game in 2006 was nearly ALL Elon, and you refused to renew. And you weren't interested in renewing when we were winning and we took 6000 or more to away games. No, you choose a point where the fans are tired of the coach again. Want to complain, complain about your fans not showing up after a BIG win. You have a 22,000 seats stadium.
And please, stop the 7000 to Burlington talk. App only managed 4000 at best on a GOOD year and they travel WAY better than you guys ever did. And these games are already scheduled for Family Weekend where we pull in 10,000 on bad weekends. That gives A&T 3000 at best.

Hold up. Are you saying Elon brought 2,000 fans to Greensboro this past weekend? Is that your estimate?

I do have to back Thrilla up here. Check your attendance and see who you have played when the attendance spikes. It's always A&T and/or App. A&T travels well whether the team sucks or not. It's just what we normally do. App only started travelling well AFTER the national championships. Before that they NEVER travelled.
I dont think anyone is mad about you guys not traveling, but since the schools are so close you would think Elon would bring a little more. I personally dont expect ANY school to bring more than about 1/5 of your average home game attendance. Since you average about 7-9K 1600 would be a great number for you guys. But with the proximity I think a lot of people just think it would increase to maybe 3000. Thats all. The Elon fans I met were very cool. We fed a few of them and it was all good. Hopefully they had a good experience and come back. Guys that come and have a good time will spread the word.
When I attended the Elon game at Elon the stadium was about 1/3 Aggies, But you will see next year. I really hope they keep the series going. Its a game thats good for both schools. Helps with travel expenses and it could one day get more of a rivalry feel if they stop with the multi year breaks in betweeen.
Not trying to be funny, but your attendance is posted in the stats. Your good weekends are 10K, not your bad weekends. Your bad weekends are 6K.

I do have to back Thrilla up here. Check your attendance and see who you have played when the attendance spikes. It's always A&T and/or App. I'm calling BS on you here. 1. 14,167 App 2. 13,100 App 3. 11,149 SAMFORD 4. 10,883 - EL CID 5. 10.847 RICHMOND 6. 10,747 WCU 7. 10,638 APP 8. 10,632 Georgia Southern 9. 10,536 A&T 10. 10,520 Johnson C Smith. So we see 2 big spikes, both of which are App. Obviously they brought some butts to the seats, but one of those games was with the SoCon title on the line. It's not ALWAYS A&T as Samford, Citadel, Richmond, GSU, WCU have drawn bigger crowds, with a JC Smith game only 16 people behind. But believe what you want, as the numbers obviously lie.

True if you want to compare A&T to family days, homecomings and championship games. But OK, I just hope they keep the series going. We are a early or mid season game that nets you guys over 10K every time we come.
To help your argument, I dont see anyone else traveling to A&T that's not a conference foe or rival, but just expecting more out of the Phoenix fan base since the schools are so close. Maybe I shouldn't, because most FCS school DO NOT travel like us and App.

We are a early or mid season game that nets you guys over 10K every time we come. Not all of those games are the 4 things you mention. But Ok, believe what you want as A&T is barely in the top 10 of games inside Rhodes. So I'm guessing there will be another caveat on the way. Personally, I'm done arguing this as numbers speak for themselves. Aside from arguing facts...... I personally love the A&T series.

I think most of us hard core football fans wouldn't miss a game between us & A&T. 3-4 years ago you may have easily gotten 2-3000 Elon fans to the Aggie stadium, possibly more, depending on who was playing at home in the ACC that weekend. Right now there are a couple of things going on that hurts attendance on the whole and especially travel attendance. 1. We are in a downward spiral. We are facing the real possibility of a "no D1 win" season. I know the Aggies follow their team regardless of their W/L. Most schools don't and we are a classic example of "good times" fans. 2. There are a number of fans, (my guess is a very large number), of fans that have had enough of the current coaching regime. We were used to Coach Lembo who, in addition to being a great coach, spent a large amount of time pitching Elon football at civic clubs, other local events, on TV and a couple times per week over the internet or email. Swepson has done very little of this and is generally an unfriendly and arrogant person. Frankly, I think it's shallow not to support your team due to any of these things, but everyone isn't me. So, until these things change, I'm afraid our travel numbers will remain low.

Is that my estimate, yes, it is, I did an estimate by counting around the red shirts. in the 4 sections where the most fans were. Believe what you want, but I did it intentionally knowing this argument was going to be made.
On the other hand, your d**n right we're going to compare A&T games to Family Weekends and Homecoming. You forget the fact that ONE A&T game was opening day at Rhodes Stadium. You also forget the fact that two other A&T games were family weekend and one was homecoming. That right there is the 4 A&T games played, period. So, look at the numbers how you will. Only 1 A&T game is in the top 11, of which that one was a family weekend which shows how well we pull for family weekend anyway.
And one of your gripes is that we only brought 2000 from Burlington. Why not get pissed that you only brought 10,000 to your own opening day after beating App.
But, talk about canceling the series all you want. You can go back to playing Lynchburg and Charleston Southern. I'm sure they traveled much better.

One thing that hurts Elon support too is that there was very little pumping of the Elon fans. heck, you can't tell that there's a game weekend to weekend anymore as far as athletics or the current coach goes. Shoot, when's the last time anyone heard Swepson do an interview more than a few lines to a newspaper? Lembo, even Seagraves, made a point to get on camera and talk the team up
