Get in a shoot out and we will lose by 50. I swear there are people the coaching staff on this board or players parents. We need a fricking running game. grind down the clock, rest the defense and control time of possession. Has football changed that much?? Quit worrying about which qb will start or if the receiver drop the passes. A number of the incompletes are not catchable balls. RUN THE BALL EFFECTIVELY!!! That is how you WIN,,, Btw, the 3 more win prediction is laughable. Obvioulsy that indiviual is not watching this team play. We beat a crappy, very crappy gardner webb team and a towson team whose coaches should have been locked up after the game. Also, A&T sucked as well. This team is not in a postion to compete. You all need to wake up and get a reality check You are speaking about controlling the line of scrimmage , every teams goal. Realistically Elon is just not or have not shown that they can do this as well as being able to avoid the costly turnovers. Especially at the beginning of games. Our defense does seem to be breaking down so defensive turnovers early could be critical in keeping it close. This team has to show some improvement game to game. UNH, U0fR, & JMU is like App, Ga. South,& Wofford back in the day. Always optimistic early in the week.

Issue is we need our passing game to enable the run. Right now opposing D's are putting 8 or 9 in the box to stuff the run because they don't fear the pass. And their dbs are jamming our wrs. Our run game won't work until we get a legit pass game.

A & T beat Shaw, Hamtpton & Norfolk State
Liberty beat a really good Montana team. Other than that fairly unimpressive results against fairly unimpressive competition.
Be interesting to see the improvement this week vs JMU.

But Gardner Webb looks FAR from crappy. They beat Liberty this past weekend, who was ranked #15 and also just beat an FBS school the weekend before. And as the other fan stated, A&T is 4-1. Elon is the only team on their schedule so far to hold them to less than 27 points. Are you even keeping up with FCS football?

Care to share where the 3 wins are coming from? The last 4 games on the schedule are winnable games. 1. Delaware (Home) - URI shut them out last weekend 2. Maine - stats very similar to ours 3. W&M (home) - Elon played them pretty tight last year. They're up and down: Played UVA tight, lost to Delaware but beat Villanova. 4. Stony Brook - similar to W&M. Bit of an up and down season so far.

Liberty beat a FBS team that has only had a football team for 4 years Georgia State was CAA 1 year before being picked up by an FBS conference. IMHO they are FBS only by conference affliation not strength.
I am looking forward to coming down to Elon this weekend with the family to watch another good football game. I've read through this forum and yes there are weak spots in JMU's armor. After 6 weeks of play films, lots of opponent coaching staffs have been able to find a niche to pick on. But good coaching has nailed the open doors shut in a few plays and thats one of the things that has helped us to win some games that I had thought we had lost. A high powered offense that puts points on the board quickly is the "nail" in the coffin for most teams we have beaten so far this year. SMU got beat by a last minute touchdown pass, it was a good football game most of the day.

Our run game won't work until we get a legit pass game. Keepthefaith, I feel you man. But the reality is the paragraph above IS the reality. You can say , don't blame the receivers or don't blame the QBs if you want. But again, the reality is that we don't have a line or RBs that will effectively support the run right now. It was the exact same thing when Lembo came here. He worked on the passing game first because we simply didn't have the personnel for a run game. I KNOW that Skrosky is more enamored with the run than Lembo ever was. He sincerely wants to have a balanced offense. But we have an OL that will support the pass, but not so much the run right now. We have receivers that can run routes well but they're not proficient in looking the ball into their hands yet, although they've been better in the last two games. We have QBs that can get the ball to the receivers, but one has been a little over zealous in getting the ball to the receivers. This should be correctable in short order. We have one running back that can run well after he gets through the line... but can't get through the line. We have one RB that does a pretty good job overall, but still needs help getting through the line and needs to pump his legs a little more to keep from being taken down too easily and one RB that has most of the tools we need other than experience at playing at this level, but he has a concussion. I think the OL will be proficient at the run game in the future, maybe even by the end of this season. But right now the best hope we have for the run game is to be really good at the passing game. To this point, we need our receivers and QBs to continue to step up and make plays.

IMHO they are FBS only by conference affliation not strength. Those 20+ extra scholarships tend to make a big difference. Liberty is still one small percentage of FCS to have an FBS win this season.
