All really good points.
Can we throw the ball effectivley when teams know we cant run it? many times the secondary and LBs can sit back in coverage knowing we dont control the line of scrimmage.
The next 6 weeks/5 games will be interesting for sure. Appreciate the enthusisam on the board!!!

The next 6 weeks/5 games will be interesting for sure. Appreciate the enthusisam on the board!!! I know that's a rhetorical question, so you already know the answer. That's part of the reason we've been getting the crap kicked out of us. But part of the answer is simply, do you choose to run first, pass first or a little bit of both. We aren't remotely as far along in the running game, though, as the passing game. That's why it's at least a couple of people's opinion here that we need to use the pass to set up the run. I personally think that's bass ackwards, but it's where we are right now. I really look forward to the day we can line up and run the ball down other teams' throats. I really appreciate forceful running as much or more than a lot of passing. I personally think the run should be the foundation and the pass something you do when you need a big play, but we're just not there yet.

Thanks for the greeting fightingchristian. I read the team chat to see how they are preceiving JMU coming to their turf. It is sometime interesting how other teams see the JMU nation coming to town. I suspect as close as Elon is to Harrisonburg, there will be lots of purple and gold in the stands on Sat afternoon. JMU travels very well. We had over 1000 fans at SMU in Dallas Tx. Some universtiy's ahve even limited the number of tickets sold to JMU so we dont over power thier games.

Be sure to take a walk around the campus, as it always seems to be ranked as one of America's most beautiful!

If JMU shows up in big numbers, this could be a top five all-time crowd for Rhodes.

Hi,
JMU's defensive numbers look poor when analyzed in a vacuum, but because JMU runs so fast and scores quickly, their defense has played more snaps than all but one team in the league...so even teams with poor offenses (Albany) will get their points. Elon is likely to surpass their highest scoring output this season.
JMU's goal each week has to make teams one dimensional. They'll give you run, or pass, but not both, and they've been successful that way, but it has opened us up to some big plays (which is how Albany got all their points)
The real problem will be stopping our offense. Towson had the best game plan so far by grinding out long, sustained drives in the first half of our contest, but that strategy eventually breaks down under the weight of what is an unstoppable offense. For example, Towson put together an 8 minute scoring drive in the second half, then JMU got all those points back in about 80 seconds. That is demoralizing.
JMU is ready to go quickly as soon as the ball is set. Your defense will not have time to substitute and they will wear down in the 3rd quarter. Towson kept things respectable though halftime, then fatigue set in and JMU went on a 24-0 run.
JMU has two talented running backs that share time, and a QB that's just as good as a RB. They've all had 100 yard rushing games at some point this year, but Vad Lee also leads the CAA in passing efficiency, so your defense will certainly be challenged.
Vad Lee has been known to throw interceptions and leads the league with 10 on the season. Five of those came against Albany, but he's been interception free the past two contests. JMU turned the ball over 6 times against Albany and still won 42-28.

Complete tangent, but I hope they don't do that stupid recycling video 2 minutes before kickoff again. Nothing sucks the energy out of a crowd like a PSA on something we've all been doing for 20-25 years right before kickoff.
No issue with bins being set up around campus, but enough of being told how to use them like we're all idiots.
Go Phoenix!
