Well, it looks like everyone we beat this year that is in the playoffs, will be advancing to the second round and we are the only ones staying home.

Definitely disappointed in the outcome of today's game. I truly expected a win today. I still feel we had the more talented players, we just didn't seem to come together as a team today. However, the team truly gave us something to cheer for this season. I'm proud of our team and very appreciative of our seniors. Best wishes to them. It seems our program is coming along under Trish. Hopefully we can keep him, Devonte Edwards and other hard working coaches to build upon what we did this year.

I believe this was Elon's first playoff appearance in 4 years and they just plain got out coached. If this was another team they would fire their coaches. Seems to be the thing to do this season. It's a shame for the seniors.

Was at the game yesterday and was really about as perfect of a day for football, weather-wise, as you could ask for.
Tony said it best before the game. It's not good enough to just make the playoffs anymore.
Unfortunately that attitude didn't show on the field. The defense did do their part for much of the game to give us a chance, but the offense couldn't get out of their own way.
Since the selection show last Sunday, I knew it would likely play out like this. We miss out on the opportunity to host while teams Elon beat and finished above in the standings hosted almost guaranteed wins. Of course they went on to win handily and Elon is the only CAA team headed home after the first weekend. Spotlight was on and Elon exits stage left again.
The coaching staff got too cute and offensively couldn't sustain anything. Credit to Furman. They really won with the same gameplan that's been effective for Elon most of the year.
Interested to see what Trisciani does in the off season. A good regular season starts to become meaningless when you repeatedly fail to deliver when it counts.
Sorry for all the negativity. 27 years of constant let downs wears on you after awhile, but I'll be there at the start of next season.
Go Phoenix!

I believe this was Elon's first playoff appearance in 4 years and they just plain got out coached. If this was another team they would fire their coaches. Seems to be the thing to do this season. It's a shame for the seniors. This is foolish. I am all for being upset, but to even type out "fire" is nonsense. We have not taken that next step yet and it is disappointing. But it is extremely hypocritical for people that had little belief of this team going into the season to call for the heads of a coaching staff that led us to a 3rd place finish in the CAA and a playoff appearance. Trisciani and this staff coached their asses off this year. It was not good enough for 2nd round playoff appearance, but are we actually sitting here making it seem like this season was not a success? Trisciani went 5-6 in year one, 6-5 in year two, and now 8-3 in year three. Pete did not even have a playoff appearance in his first three years and he is still considered the standard by many of you on here with only ONE in his five seasons. Like I said earlier, if there is any finger to point, it is toward Blank. This team has had minimal community support from the town and also the people on campus. I can't blame them because there is zero effort from athletics in establishing meaningful relationships with either. We got beat and it is a bad way to end the season. However, we were back in the playoffs and I have confidence in Trisciani to continue to grow this program. How can you not after seeing where we are right now? If this team suffers a big stepback next year, then I will choose to be negative. I just hope we have fans that are willing to support and appreciate a step forward rather than having ridiculous expectations for a team that was chosen to finish 6th in the Preseason.

Trish & Company did an awesome job this season IMO. I'd like to think my negative comments are "constructive criticism" rather than all out complaints in most cases. If I have a true complaint, it's that the offensive scheme wasn't flexible enough. For example, We matched up great against two of the best defenses in the CAA in Delaware and Richmond. However, a defense like Furman's was built to eat a "run up the middle & pocket pass" offense alive. It seems to my non professional coaching mind that if we'd had the dimension of just a few roll out passes and pitch option plays in the mix, it may have made a of difference against a team like Furman. I just don't feel that we had the type offense where we could say "up yours, we're gonna run OUR offense down YOUR throats" to ALL our opponents. It was good, but not quite that good.
I also think our recruiting over the past couple of years has been phenomenal. Except for Purcell, all of our OL are freshmen and sophomores. Think about that for a minute! And who the he11 found McKay? AWESOME find! Yes we're losing Parham and Daughtry, but we've still got Brayboy, Ogunmola, Nwandu, Hardy and Miller II for two or more years. Plus we have Jordan Bonner and Christian Da-Silva for another year! I watched the freshman QB Will Lankford during summer camp and saw where he received the scout team POW several times during the year. This kid hasn't yet taken a college game snap. He'll be around for another 4 years & I'm here to tell you, He'll be one of the best QB's ever to play at Elon if he stays on his current trek & remains coachable. We don't even know what's in the pipeline for 2023! whoanellie needs to get busy updating us on all of that...
I'm absolutely disappointed that our season ended earlier than I had hoped and expected, but I'm nowhere near depressed. The Elon FB future looks bright to me.
