You know, there could be more to this story than we have been told. My first thought was to wonder if Blank had suggested to Skroksy that he begin to feel the waters at other schools...and most coaching changes occur this time of year. I would guess Elon does not have to buy out his contract this way. From all I've heard and seen, Skroksy is a good guy, and I don't think he would leave his assistants out in the cold unless he had been encouraged to leave. I could be way off base here, of course. Leaving for another program seems to save Elon from potentially firing him. I agree it's a rough time of year for assistants, but not sure it would have been that different if he had been fired a month ago. Most assistant are always in the mix for jobs at other schools. I guess I'm just saying that maybe Skroksy deserves a little benefit of doubt here. I would not be surprised to hear Blank already has a few people in mind for the job...like most of you, I'm hoping for somebody with head coaching experience. I think a great assistant/position coach often does not translate into a great head coach/manager.

You have no idea how Rich Skrosky wrapped up the year with his staff. They would have to be crazy to feel secure after the past 3 years.

Really? Skrosky publically stayed no staff changes and then leaves.
Not about feeling secure it's about character and integrity.

Grandpa i can see it bot ways. It could of been a shock to Elon or it could be Elon pushing him out. As far as No Staff changes it could have been because Skrosky knew he was leaving and didnt want to bring anyone in or Elon was pushing him out and didnt want him to bring anyone in.

Grandpa, you must have been around the block a few times. Publicly stated means nothing these days, and coaches leave programs hanging in the wind every year. Yes, RS bailed but this is not news. Business as usual. It is clear the University is not interested in building a football program. BTW RS did not do a stellar job. Did not win and had quite a few incidents where it looked like he lost the team.

The full staff, Skrosky included, had been working as though no changes were forthcoming. I HIGHLY doubt Skrosky saw this coming.
As for the rest of the staff, I'd say they have a decent chance of staying. It's late in the game. If a coordinator is hired, he likely won't bring a full staff with him. Still, it's a tenuous situation for them.

Even Swepson only kept a couple. If we get someone that can't fill a staff without keeping current coaches, we're in deep dodo again...

Weighing in on Skrosky's leaving, I knew him when he was here with Lembo and have kept in contact from time to time during this tenure. I'm kind of mixed. He inherited a siht show from Swepson. The move to the CAA with the program in shambles, not knowing much about the current state of the CAA, FCS, recruiting in this region and at this level... He really walked into a tough situation.
I think his biggest mistake was not hiring a real OC. This team was simply not ready for his offense. (Not that they were ready for any offensive scheme), but his required a superlative QB, good/experienced skill players and a OL that could both pass block and run block - none of which did he have, and unfortunately none of which did he recruit.
I'm not pissed off at him for leaving, even the way he did, given the circumstances. He had the opportunity to be a coordinator in the CUSA, working with Butch Davis. It's very similar to his situation when he went to Ball State, and he will likely be successful there.
Given the way things were going here, he had to make a quick decision. In my opinion he made the right one. Yes, it left us a little in the lurch, but let's face it, nothing was going to change substantially next season, & he'd have probably been canned after the season. We'd have just been deeper in the hole. So this was probably a decent way for his tenure to end.

Fightingchristian - that's all RS offense required is a superlative QB, good/experienced skill players and a OL that could both pass block and run block. So an exceptional QB, skill players who are good and experienced and an O line the can run and pass block - I guess Alabama has 2 out of 3. I'm not sure their QB is unparalleled.

I just have an issue with Skrosky coming in committed to making it better while throwing Swepson under the bus and then making the situation even worse. Yes worse. He gutted the upper class and made his mark. The offense is pathetic and the defense has not gotten better actually gone the other direction while playing all his guys in his scheme.
As Bill Parcell once said "you are what your record says you are". The Skrosky era is 7-27. Pretty much says it all. Remember he had a stellar HC debut at Ramapo. A respectable 1-8.

Can you imagine what the staff is thinking? Especially the guys that followed skrosky from ball state to Elon? 5 days from Christmas and they will lose their jobs and relocating, hopefully finding other work. Classless move. The guy who created the original dumpster fire just threw gasoline on it and ran away. Oh come on. You are saying you wouldnt take more money to do less work? Or even same amount of money to do less work? Oh and lets add in that your boss and the company you work for our not being the most supportive or giving what you want or need to do well at your job. Do not even say it is classless... If you think this you obviously do not follow athletics or sports at all. This happens every season. Maybe you can say be bailed... but it could also be a promotion for him, which is not really bailing at all its called a promotion which I think all of us would take.
