Btw, this is a crap move. The guy bailed. He saw the writing on the wall. I am pissed. He had a job to do and now bailed and probably get 8 guys to lose their jobs because he wasn't man enough to deal with the crappy job he did. Merry Christmas to the rest of the staff, you're fired Doesn't this all sound familiar, like somone else that coached at Elon before did something like this? Here is how that conversation went: Skrosky: Hi Pete, how are you? Lembo: Good, just preparing for our bowl here at Maryland. You know it's a Power-5 school right? Skrosky: Well, I have my self a dilemma hear at Elon and I knew you were the only person I could ask for guidance. Lembo: What's that? Skrosky: Well, I am sure that you are aware of the way things have gone here at Elon over the past three seasons. Lembo: I check in on you all when I can, being a coach at a Power-5 school has high demands. Skrosky: Well, I don't know what to do. Things here just keep getting worse, and it dosen't seem that things will get any better in the next few years. Plus, I was just offered a new position at FUI. Lembo: Congrats, are they a Power-5 school like where I'm at? Skrosky: Not sure, anyway I don't know what to do. Should I stay and try right the ship, or abandon ship for something new? Lembo: Son, when the going gets tough, GET OUT! Take it from me, it is easier to move on to something else, rather than fix the mess you have created. Skrosky: Well, what about my staff and their job security? Lembo: Rich, as long as you are taken care of, who cares about them! Skrosky: I knew you would have the answers that I needed. You are so smart and lead by example. Lembo: Glad I could be of assistance. Well I have to go, Power-5 football practice is calling me.

Both coaches were probably going to get fired the next season. Both coaches did not have the full support of the school and administration.... both left to have job security...

That is stupid. It happens all the time in both business and sports. And it is a loser move every time. The man will probably never get another head coaching gig. He's tanked at two schools now. The guy also made a commitment, made promises and failed to deliver. So, faulting the guy for his decision personally? I don't care. Faulting him professionally for failing to deliver anything he promised and then bailing. You better d@mn well be sure that bothers me. I was ok with his hiring at first. But either he was out of his element, he was out of his league or Swepson screwed Elon's name so bad no one wants to play here. Maybe all of the above. The right coach can overcome the last part. And yes, Swepson burned Elon's name throughout NC, VA and SC. And it is still burned to this day. Offerring verbal scholarships and then pulling them back repeatedly will do that. Can you imagine what the staff is thinking? Especially the guys that followed skrosky from ball state to Elon? 5 days from Christmas and they will lose their jobs and relocating, hopefully finding other work. Classless move. The guy who created the original dumpster fire just threw gasoline on it and ran away. Oh come on. You are saying you wouldnt take more money to do less work? Or even same amount of money to do less work? Oh and lets add in that your boss and the company you work for our not being the most supportive or giving what you want or need to do well at your job. Do not even say it is classless... If you think this you obviously do not follow athletics or sports at all. This happens every season. Maybe you can say be bailed... but it could also be a promotion for him, which is not really bailing at all its called a promotion which I think all of us would take.

College football coaching is not for the weak at heart. 90% of them have a coaching resume with 5 - 10 stops .... or more. They understand this and accept it - or get out of it.

I think he missed on some big recruits that could have made this team better. But I also think this season he lost the kids altogether. When this job offer came up I think he realized he did not want to be ahead coach anymore to be honest. He can make the same money with less responsibility. And does not have to deal with Dave or Leo. Win win for him.

Skrosky bailed and it is classless. Agree with the above, he didn't want to be a HC any longer and knew he sucked at it.
8 - 35 is all you need to know.

Being a head coach means you're answering to President, Board and AD anywhere. Like any job, there are expectations. When you fail.... well the going gets tough.
The man had big talk about Elon, the community, NC etc. What he has to deal with here is really no different than Furman, Wofford, Richmond, Mercer, Campbell, Patriot League schoola or any high ring private school that has rules enforced on academic progress of recruits or transfers.
The man, and many coach, just simply don't work in this environment.
That's why we need a head coach that's proven to be able to work in this environment.

What would you expect. 10 years ago when Elon started winning coaches got fired. Last season We had Maine & Stonebrook & Towson. Really We are underdogs naturally in 90% of our games. Our guys work too hard 11 months not to do better in the win column. AppSt., GaSouthern , Wofford & Furman is a tough schedule. JMU , UofR, Villanova and UNH and the rest of the CAA is a murderous schedule. If We are going to compete We will have to piss off some other people. Grow some.

Meh, this is nothing compared to how the App, GSU, UTC fans were... The CAA is a walk in the park.
Right now they hate how bad we are in football. For the America East schools, that's all they care about they don't see us for anything else. And given our performance, can you blame them.
If I were them, I would EXPECT us to be way better than Rhode Island, they're historically bad team. Yet URI killed us.....

Are either of those schools in a position to be looking down their nose at anyone? Both are known for 100 years of basketball futility and aside from a few football playoff wins, what have either done? I'm sure UNH would bring up ice hockey, but even that they play second fiddle to their neighbors.
Anyhow, we're definitely bad right now, but I find it funny these guys who have been standing in the corner watching JMU, Delaware, Villanova, Richmond and UMass win titles are now trying to beat their chest.
Go Phoenix!

Go Phoenix! Well UNH has made the playoffs like 12 straights years which is pretty impressive I do not care what you say considering in that time we have been there once. W&M has made it 4 times in that's same time line. Oh and both have won conference championships which again we never did in CAA or SOCON. SOOO they have done more than us haha. I hnderstand and what your saying but we have zero room to talk. Well unless you want to bring up our awesome NAIA titles. That will get them back.

I hear you man, but it's essentially the one legged guy making fun of the guy with no legs. I'm not the one crowing, just asking why these guys are puffing their chest? I know we suck. They have had a lifetime to build a program at this level. It's no excuse for how bad we are, but they are essentially the Buffalo Bills based on your description. Not exactly a glowing comparison. Either way we have to get better at the end of the day to be respected. Go Phoenix!

Being a guest, I can show you some great southern hospitality. I could personally introduce you a few National Champions from our NAIA titles, You can personally explain to them their efforts in obtaining Awesome titles.
