We need a D-1 Transfer QB and also RB, DL , We have to upgrade, One has to measure success against the top competition. We do not match up when offenses double our production. I believe for the last 40 plus years that Elon and their fan bases really took for granted winning and how hard it is win win consistently. Playing at this level only exposes your weakness. Not a good effort at all. I would argue we need a significant upgrade in receivers. A big deal was made this past week about Tre finally turning the corner. This week? two catches for 24 yards. This from a guy who towers above the defenders. Our QB should be able to just throw the ball up in the air and Tre should get it. Last week, he had the 54 yd TD that kinda feel into his lap. Somehow that was a sign that he's back. Wrong. So many of the decent yardage this past month has come late in the game when everything has been decided. I would love to find offensive output by quarters, because we don't do anything until the defense puts the subs in. Yes, the past three weeks have been against very strong teams. But the first four weeks weren't cupcakes. And we came out of there with two wins and (ignoring WF) were competitive throughout. The team seemed to believe it could win back then. Last three weeks, not so much.

The bottom line is we are bad. Really bad. We are not playing well in any phase.

is it just me or do we look extremely undersized compared to the teams we have played so far in the CAA. Player to player the other teams have looked better physically. Also we need to start recruiting a solid kicker for next season.

I refrained from commenting last week as we had too many saying we should wait as progress was coming and we would see it over the next couple of weeks. Yes, they admitted we might not win, but there would be progress. We have not shown any progress and I'm sorry, I don't call the 2 wins progress. The defense basically won these games with an assist from the Towson coaching staff.
If anything, we look to have taken a step back the past three weeks. We are throwing more INTs, dropping about the same number of passes and our running game has been pretty consistently terrible. And yes, the vast majority of our success has been against the second and third teams of our opponents. The Qb's have some game, but are way way too young to be starting at this level. They just aren't ready. They are looking right at the receivers and drawing the coverage to them, then throwing too late and getting the balls batted, dropped, and picked off. We have receivers still playing that have way too many drops. We have receivers that are going through the motions and seem uninterested in playing and this has been going on from the first game. It is clear as day...certain receivers seem to have more desire, have been open and caught the ball when thrown to them, but we sure look like we have certain favorites that we design the plays too who at this point have not produced (along with the QB's not getting the ball out on time) and either aren't fighting for the pass or have a regular weekly drop quotient they feel they have to meet.
Why our coaching staff isn't being questioned more for the lack of progress, the lack of accountability, and the lack of a game plan that has the team ready and set to attack certain parts of a team, baffles me. It looks like they have a play sheet and just close their yes and pick pass or run without any idea on how to set up plays. Its disheartening watching. No way Ball State won any games with this type of game planning. Why we aren't holding coaching accountable first and foremost and then the coaches holding the players accountable (line = block, QBs = quick decisions, RBs - hit the hole!, Wrs - catch the d**n ball). And if you don't, put someone else in until you get groups willing to fight from the first snap and not until second half.
There is no progress to date. Looks like an extension of the Swepson era with less offense but a more likable coach. Disheartening. And don't look now but Willam and Mary took it to UNH which an earlier post said we should be competitive based on last year -- right now looks like WM has improved, Elon.....

Agree 100% with frustrated fan. Both quarterbacks in my mind are not fcs level starting quarterbacks. They would be good backups or d2 players. The game plan is questionable week to week.

If we go 0 - 4 in the remaining games (best case we win 2), and continue to play as we have the last 3 weeks. Does skrosky survive?

Just an embarrassing day for the program. They aren't getting any better. Skrosky has to start answering why we are not seeing progress. Go Phoenix! Agree here. I like Skrosky and think he can get this program turned around. Improvement is what I've wanted to see. So far this season, it looks like a digression. The 2 teams we've beaten, Towson & GWU, have seemingly gotten better since their losses to us. I stated 3 more wins were attainable, but at this point, don't think so. Here's a stat for you: JMU now has almost as many points off PATs and FGs (72) and we have total points (76).

I like skrosky but they need to improve over the next 4 games. If we finish 2 - 9 he needs to go with the entire staff.

1. Skrosky isn't going anywhere. The AD believes they have the right man. 2. There is NO ONE available to replace Skrosky. No one with a a decent resume would touch this place with a ten foot pole. 3. I like Skrosky and consider him a friend... But if the team doesn't start to show some improvement, it will start to impact athletics as a whole. Giving will drop. 4. IMO, Skrosky needs to hold each and every player and each and every coach, including himself, to a higher standard. Canning someone may not be a bad way to go, start with the WR coach. Not only can they not make the tough catches, they can't make the easy catches. That's not acceptable in high school, much less D1-NCAA football. Same thing with the OL coach, Why can't this group run block?
I'm not even looking for them to win, necessarily. Just give me a sign that there's a reason to care about Elon Football, and to look forward to brighter days in the future. Show some progress, NOW!

Disagree that there is no one to replace him. That is why you conduct searches and not reach back into the bloody past. I would rather have an up and comer who uses Elon as a stepping stone in 5 to 10 years then someone who wants to retire here. You tell me who will be motivated to turn the program.
If blank still beileves that skrosky is unquestionably the right coach after all this, then Blank should be fired.
Skrosky will not fire riebock. He hired him at Ball State and brought him to Elon along with Riesert and Maddon. No way will that happen. He may make Riebock the full time recruting coordinator but he will not fire him.
Wrobo a different story. Agree on the play calling duties.
Right now 3 more wins is not only laughable but also highly unlikely.
And the comment about fundraising is correct. Take a look at the stands Saturday. Mediocre crowd at kickoff, nearly empty at haltime and once the homecoming king and queen were announced you could shoot a cannon off and not hit a soul.

5 years of decline. I expected more this year. The casual fan won't come because it's just not interesting. The loyal fans won't come because it hurts to much to watch. First class facility, first class campus, third class FB program. Sad.

Huge mistake trying to play so many freshman and build a team off that. We needed our upperclassmen and seniors. How about transfers? Would have been a good idea to bring in a few so that our freshman could have a season to develop and our older guys could enjoy the season and be competative. That is what you have to do in the CAA. The CAA is not a joke! Still puzzled as to why we did not keep our senior QB who is now playing at FBS level!! He is playing guys out of position. Not capitalizing on the talent and experience we do have on the team. We do have older players on the team that are experienced and can catch the ball!! Why arent we using them more in the passing game?? They are being under utilized! Wish we had a coach that coached to win instead of using the excuse of a "young team".That excuse is only going to take you so far. Thats not how they roll in the CAA. His job is to build a winning program and to do whatever it takes to get that accomplished.

Have seen every game in person except UNH and I agree that our team looks smaller, slower, less talented. Look at the O-line and D-line compared to Richmond and JMU. Not even close. We are out of games by halftime and the hard core fan base is losing interest. The way I look at the season.....we have 4 games left and it is up to the coaches to: 1. Make all 4 of these games competitive from the beginning 2. Show progress with the OL and offense in general 3. Get the Defense back to their early season ways 4. The have to win 2 out of 4 to consider this season progress.
What I worry about is recruiting. If this staff can not get the talent needed.....we need a new staff. I have not been this disheartened in a long time. Not competitive...showing no progress, and losing the hard core fan. I heard many at the game Sat. who have been coming for years saying this was it.....may not be back for the rest of the season. Watch the attendance at the W&M and Delaware games....it is going to be terrible. I can not imagine this is not negatively impacting fundraising. We have also lost the "water cooler". Nobody care who Elon is playing and do not have any knowledge of these teams. At least we could have healthy debates when we were in the SOCON with fans from other schools (not just App St.....but WC, Citadel, Furman, Wofford). Ran into people all the time from those schools who enjoyed talking SOCON football. None of the conversations now. I agree with the comments that if this does not get fixed fast....D Blank is the problem. 1 incompetent hire and 1 panic hire trying to link back to past success which usually does not end well. Sorry for the ramble....just fed up with the state of the program. Losing hard core fans, attendance, money, etc. When does BB season begin?
